whistle/wine at low speeds

Hi all,
09 TSX, 5MT, ~ 2800 miles.
I notice a sort of low volume whistle/wine that seems to be coming from the engine or transmission.

It is pretty subtle, but definitely there, and only seems to be when on the throttle. Almost seems to be turbo wine.

When you let of the throttle and just coast it goes away.

I am wondering if it is the injector/rail.

I will pay closer attention to it.. but wondered if anyone else noticed the same thing?

I hear a rattle when I accelerate - not sure if it's pinging (I have been useing premium fuel).. I haven't had a chance to bring it in to have that looked at - it could be a loose part or something trans/engine...

I noticed the exact same thing on my TSX that I just picked up last Saturday (Oct. 25th). My wife thought I was crazy, but I can definitely hear the same thing. Only happens when I'm on the throttle as well. Let me know if you find anything else out.

I think every TSX has it actually. Nothing is wrong with your car, its just a sound all these engines make. My 04 does it too. And yes its only when your on the throttle from 1000-3300rpm or so.

The whine is normal. My '04 has been doing it since it was brand new.

my 09 TSX has pinging noises coming from the steering column area when I am accelerating using low gear around 1000-2000 rpm, especially when I am going uphill. When the AT changes gears and revs go back up, the pinging disappears.

My 05 makes the whine noise at the RPM described by R. Tosh.

Whining noise.

My wifes 09 makes the whining noise as well but it's REALLY loud and you can hear it no matter how fast you are driving. So loud that you need the radio on all the time. The dealer agrees there is something wrong but so far, five months, they haven't been able to fix the problem. My 09 Tech makes the same sound but I really have to listen for it. Her car is a f*ing nightmare.

Hi Guys. My car (5AT) also makes this whine on light acceleration most prominently heard at 80km/h (50 mph). When I went to the dealer about it, I could not replicate the noise. To me it sounds like a whine coming from the differential. A crown wheel/pinion noise on slight acceleration. I started hearing this noise at about 5000km's.I would like to hear from you guys that have also experienced this.

same thing with my car. I think it is more common with the manual transmissions since I had a loaner auto 09 tsx and I couldn't hear the whining at all. I dont think it is a problem. I think the air box just makes this sound. You will notice that the air box for the 2nd gen tsx is different than the 1st gen tsx.

On the subject of air boxes, has anyone checked out their filter yet? I just opened mine up the other day and it was filthy. Only 16,000 km's.

I just got my 2010 TSX today, and the sales guy told us to replace the filter in about a year or so (i live in chicago so the air is not as clean compared to other areas) - a filthy filter is good in the sense it means its workin! lol

I seems has slightly pinging noise coming from outside of driver side area when I am accelerating around 1000-2000 rpm. If you roll down the driver side window you will not be able to hear it. Is that engine pinging? or something else.
