Whats going on with my car??
Holy Crap!
ROFL, that is *not* funny *at all*.
Seriously, that sucks.
I bet if you look under that garnish/trim whatever, you should see the window sealant underneath and wouldn't have to worry about it leaking somewhere if it were off.
Also, a piece of garnish probably wouldn't qualify for Vehicle Off Road status, necessitating a loaner, you know?
Still, they should have removed it or taped it for you to prevent it from chipping paint around where it goes.

Great news. I noticed my car is doing the same thing on the passenger side. I'm so excited to take it to the dealership friday for them to tell me that the part is on backorder and I get to drive around for a month with it getting worse. Fun stuff.
Whoa that is ugly! You actually drive around like that?! I've seen junkers all taped up but never an Acura... thats a 1st. I'd drive with the part off rather the have it all taped up like that. Btw, Your dealer really sucks not offering you a courtsey car to drive while the part comes in.

P.s. ...
at Shadowtuner's avatar. I still have some of those icons on my hdd.Still have the diskettes, too. Maybe I should install an older version on my Win2000 network health system.
Not that this helps much, but if it's a early build issue there is a Running Production Change to rectify it on current builds. If so, the New Old Stock would be pulled and backordered until the superceded part was available.
Meaning...they won't pull 'build' stock to satisfy a 'parts' order.
Can you see the clip at the bottom so you could remove it? Seems better than taking a chance of it flying off and damaging your car or someone else's?

Hahaha, took mine in today with the top of it popping out a bit. Came to pick it up and they had removed the whole thing and had to order the part. Looks like I'll be driving around for a few weeks with a chunk of my car missing. At least I got the valet key problem fixed (like I'd let someone else park it anyway).
You can expect a few of these issues in the 2nd Gen... I also think (in general) that Acura quality/reliability is starting to go down, including Honda... If Acura can offer a bigger 2G TSX with more hi-tech gadgets for the same price as a 1G TSX, then they're cutting costs some where or the other.. These corporations always make money, they're using some cheap stuff outside that car. They also removed the expensive touch screen interface with that glaring screen and knob thingie... I hope they fix these minor issues in the second year model... And agreed with the dude who mentioned the 2nd Gen advertisements are all BS... For luxury it's Lexus/Benz and for fun it's Audi/BMW.... not feeling the 'wannabe' move by Acura.

I like the placement of the screen in the 09 and don't miss the touch stuff in the 08 loaner I had. That doesn't mean I'd bash the 1g's, usually people prefer what they're accustomed to.
I think both cars do a great job of being what they are.
I had the same issue with my car. After I picked my car up from the dealership for a different issue, I was driving home and realized that there as a weird noise while I was on the highway. When my friend pointed out that the driver's side panel was flapping in the wind, I took the car back. They got me a loaner 2009 TSX and it had the same problem but on the passenger's side. They taped it up and sent me on my way. What a joke. Anyways, they got my car fixed the next day. Apparently they just glued it at the dealership. My TSX has already had three issues mentioned on this website. Knocking and pinging, defective cupholder cover and now the panels popping up. What next?
well the 2009 is a first model year.
so you will see more things popping up over time.
for the first gen (2004), as time went on, things kept coming up.
let's just hope you don't have any major mechanical issues in the
near future like the 2004 did with the A/C system.
it's just part of the deal with buying a first model year car.

Looking at the TSBs (there orta be one on this issue in the near future), I noticed a 2004 thread about "windshield noise" that was attributed to faulty molding. Déjà vu?

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the feedback. I understand that there will be bugs with the first model year but it's just frustrating. I truely like my car and wish they would find a fix for the knocking and pinging soon.

That's a separate topic,[1] but ... if you put in premium gas, you shouldn't be hearing knocking or pinging at all.

So does my car qualify for a lemon now? I have lost my drivers side piece twice, and my passenger side once. So that makes it a total of three times, or is it the car has to be in the shop for three weeks?
My SA told me like a week or two ago that the new replacements for these would be in the distribution center on the 29th of September (yesterday) and that he red flagged mine as critical since I've been driving around with mine taped on for well over a month, so for those of you waiting, it shouldn't be too much longer now.
So apparently they don't have the right brackets and now i have to wait 2-3 weeks for them to get the right ones in. Never again will I buy an Acura. My Audi, which was a first year model too, never had one issue like this and was only in the shop once for non scheduled maintenance at 35k miles. Hell, my Integra never had a problem in 60k miles and I had a NOS kit on it too.

It might be and I will give them a call. My family has a very good history with Acura and now it has gone to hell.I had a '96 Integra, my dad has had a '90 Legend and a '04 RL. My sister a 2.3CL and my uncle a '05 Tl and '08MDX all from the same dealer except the Legend, Orange Park Acura in Jacksonville, which is not the dealer I use for service. I like my car and everything, but there are squeaks and rattles which shouldn't be in a car with 4.5k miles. I was just expecting more and due to the economy and gas prices i went with this car over a 335i/A5/S5.
