Angry Whats going on with my car??

Not sure how to describe it, so I will let the pictures explain. I noticed this yesterday, the first one is after driving highway speeds, and the second is how it looks normally. Is anyone else having this issue and what could this be cause from? The car is almost 2 months old with slightly over 2K miles, needless to say I will be calling the dealer in the morning. These pictures are of the drives side it’s also happening on the passenger’s side but not as severe.

It's the window trim molding, it should have clips to pop into place, if not…then glue. Take it to the dealer.

honestly, who cares.

the car should be able to bake in the sun all day, for years and years
without anything happening like those pics.

being a first model year, there's bound to be little things here and there
all over that'll pop up.

hopefully it's just a singular event, and not caused by something as
simple as baking in the sun...

Lost mine on the drivers side already. Had it replaced at the dealership on OBT. Bad glue was the reason they gave.

I'm not even sure what the hell it is we're looking at becasue the pictures are so grainy and close up. If that's window trim molding, around which windows is it? There are 6 windows on the car. Whatever it is, I have nothing like that happening. What I have noticed is my paint starting to form cracks on the passenger side of front lip spoiler on that part of it that points out a little down by the fog light. It's not something I'll make a special trip for. They can fix it at the first oil change. I've noticed some other minor paint chips from what I assume to be road debris too. I'm beginning to worry a bit about the paint on these cars. My 12 year old black Ford Probe GT had tougher paint than this.

I guess you don't get it huh?

did the car bake in the sun?
who cares.

the car should be able to bake in the sun all day.
if that was the problem, every single car would have this issue.

do you get it?

probably not.

of course he owns the car, so he cares what happens to it.
different issue all together.

the point is that it should make no difference where the car sits, this
problem should never happen.

and now we see that it's not just an isolated incident, others have had
it happen too.
so now we know this model has another problem that needs a TSB probably
and that everyone needs to keep an eye out for.

"bad glue" is not confined to one car, they use the same glue for every car.
and if the sun's heat is indeed causing the issue, then all of you are in trouble.
but that's obviously not the case.

I didn't want to mention it because I never took a picture of it, but it started happening with <500 miles on the odo. We have a bunch of rain and heat in Orlando, so that might be a contributing factor. The OP should be going to the same dealer as I went, so they would be able to confirm it has happened before. They said I was the first car that came in with the problem.

What service advisor did you see? I talked to Debby (the manager) she said they have never seen anything like it. Interesting you took yours in also, I will see what Debby has to say on Tuesday I have been dealing with her for about 10 years she is great.

I've unfortunately had this happen to me too. But I got my windshield replaced recently so I think it's because of that.

Either way it sucks.

Wow, this is interesting. My mom purchased a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited AWD back in Nov, and about a month after having it the same thing occured (brand new model year). Anyway's, she took it to Hyundai. They ended re-sealing it, and ever since there hasn't been any issues. I would suggest taking it to the dealer ASAP though.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear this is happening. These sort of things are really tarnishing Honda's reliability. Yes they are minor things and are expected by a 1st year run, but I have been driving Honda's from the 90's and never remember problems like this occurring.

My sister who has an 08 Accord is so disappointed with the amount of minor issues she has is thinking about trading it in now for an Altima. She has made numerous trips to the dealer for warranty repairs.

So far here is the list of repairs I remember:

1) Floor carpet wore out in a spot, replaced the entire carpet after 3 months. While they put the seats back, they cracked a plastic cover piece which they only replaced after we noticed it
2) Door Handle TSB. Under some heating conditions the door handle won't open the door handle on the driver's side. Honda suggests to put in some metal clip in the handle to fix the issue

This weeks issues:
3) Seat belt won't lock on first attempt. Sometimes it takes up to 5 times to keep trying before it will lock.
4) Squealing rear brakes. This is a common issue and thinking the factory didn't use enough molkote grease I waited to replace the pads at 15k miles and the noise has come back. Also they wore unevenly so I had to re-lube the slider pins.
5) Gas release will sometimes not release on the first time. Again other people have been having this issue. On our 5th and 6th gen Accords, it always opened on the first pull/push respectively.

It will be now two weeks since I reordered it for a second time and the part still has not come in. The first time it only took them one week to deliver the part, but now I'm thinking Acura might be working on the problem.

Well it sounds like your dealer isn't that great... they should have at least offered you a loaner car.

The 1st time I went to the dealer to have the "This is not an ashtry" door fixed because the door wouldn't swing open and an exterior molding peice fell off. They had to order the parts and offered me a loaner car till it was fixed.

The 2nd time (currently) I went to the dealer to have them look at my engine pinging/timing issues, they again offered me a loaner car while they work on the problem.

Though I too am having the "new model blues", I am happy with my dealer's customer service.

The part is now back ordered so expect to wait a substantial amount of time before it gets fixed. Next week will be three weeks since mine was ordered.

Oh wonderful, I just had mine in this past week for this (along with a few other problems.) They fixed the other stuff, but ya, they told me they'd have to order a new one, but they did not give me a time frame. They just told me they'd call me when it came in. So now I'm having to ride around with the window down so i can hold the piece down so it doesn't fly off completely or break. Its barely holding on by something down at the bottom. Guess I'll give the painter's tape another try. I used it once already but it came off in the rain.

Um ... this is the windshield rain trough, right? Wouldn't moisture intrude into the A-pillar with this broken or unseated? I wouldn't wash it if something like that was awry. Just my

That a "luxury brand" dealer would just let you drive around with it like this for a week or two while they wait for a part.... I'd be demanding they pull the part off a loaner, demo, or another car from the lot. No question.

I'm just remembering some of the 2GEN ads ... "this isn't trust fund luxury, this is entrepreneur 'just get it done' luxury ... a new class of (upscale) car buyer...." What a load of .

Have you called them for an update?

I would call Acura Customer Service and ask them if the part is really on backorder, and approximately how long you should expect to wait.

Not that this helps much, but if it's a early build issue there is a Running Production Change to rectify it on current builds. If so, the New Old Stock would be pulled and backordered until the superceded part was available.

Meaning...they won't pull 'build' stock to satisfy a 'parts' order.

Can you see the clip at the bottom so you could remove it? Seems better than taking a chance of it flying off and damaging your car or someone else's?

Ya, I have been waiting about 3 weeks on mine, so I don't expect it anytime soon. So, to rectify the problem I just used a ton of blue painter's tape lol. I'll have to get a pic of it for ya'll. I could have probably just taken it on off, but I think it would look even worse and as someone mentioned I don't want water getting in a place it isn't supposed to.

Ok, here's a pic of how I keep my trim piece from flying off...lol

Taken from my camera on my phone so not the best quality. This is probably taken from the worst angle since if you were driving next to me most of all you would see is the part just above the door since the majority of the tape is on the windshield itself. Its ugly, but it works, even in the rain, though I haven't been able to use the windshield wipers because I fear it might just pull the tape up when its raining.

And though this is off-topic big time and because I just figured out I can easily upload photos straight from my phone to photobucket, here is the car I was about 5 minutes away from buying before I decided to go see what Acura had just for kicks and giggles.

Whoa that is ugly! You actually drive around like that?! I've seen junkers all taped up but never an Acura... thats a 1st. I'd drive with the part off rather the have it all taped up like that. Btw, Your dealer really sucks not offering you a courtsey car to drive while the part comes in.
