TSX slow to downshift (auto tranny)

My TSX is slow to downshift (auto tranny) when I am moving slowly and give the car some gas to accelerate. The tranny seems to "hunt" for a gear before it engages. Anyone else having a problem such as this?

dont' all automatics do this? you slam the gas then you have that 1 second window before it kicks in

Yeah, like if you slam the gas to pass someone, sure it does.

But I agree with the OP, the TSX auto is really sluggish. Sometimes, when I've slowed down from like 60 Km/h to like <30 Km/h and I'm creeping along, and I go to accelerate, I realize the car has stayed in 4th... and it'll stay that way unless I really floor it. It's irritating

My old crappy auto chevy didn't do that, it downshifted for me as I applied the brakes or coasted.

Those times, it may be best to use the MANUAL function of the transmission.

yea honestly i have a 5AT and my last two cars have been Honda accords they were 5AT also and did the same sometimes. Ay if anything messes up Acura will take care of it as long as your under warranty so i wouldn't stress it too much but ive gotten used to it even with that throttle by wire or whatever it might still take a second to kick in because it downshifts for you but thats why we always got the option to use manual

Actually, with the TSX, you can keep it in "auto mode" and still use the paddle shifters for temporary shifting. If I go to pass, I just drop the gear down as I'm doing it and it will hold that gear until it needs to switch to a higher gear (which will occur automatically). You'll see the number of the gear light up when you do this and it will disappear when it reverts to automatic management.

You can also drive it in Sport Mode around the city and it is extremely responsive!
