In the 1GEN, there are little "bumpers" under the trunk that actually screw in and out, a little like "levelers" in fine furniture. You probably have some in there. I recently adjusted my trunk and my hood with those. Just make micro adjustments and close the lid and see how much they help.

either one. My dealer is 700 miles away from me. There is one 20min away. I take it there only when I can not make it to my dealer. Warranty work is covered no matter which acura dealer you take it to.

Its not a bad idea to try and build up a good rapport with the dealership that is the closest to you.
I would take it to the closer dealer first and if they aren't given you the service you are expecting/hoping for then make the trip to the one you know you can count on.

thanks for the replies guys
tonight i played around with the rubber stoppers... turns out one of the stoppers is longer than the other!
i screwed the right side in as much as possible and adjust the left side a tad and things looked MUCH better. i went and rinsed the entire car afterwards to make sure nothing would leak in the trunk
i just need to shave off literally a few mm's from the right stopper, and it'll be 100% flush and even!
any tips on shaving rubber?

If you have to "shave rubber," go to the dealer (any dealer should be able to help). You may need a new stopper, or the seal is jinky, or something else is wrong that you can't see. Just to be sure.
There's only so far you need to go, and arguably should go, when your car is brand spankin' new and under warranty.
