TLX 8 Speed DCT in TSX 2.4L

I have a 2014 TSX Sportwagon 2.4L with the 5 speed auto and would love to be able to convert it to an 8 speed DCT out of a TLX or ILX. Has anyone figured out how to do the swap?

The forum where you originally posted, the AcuraZine User Help, Support & Suggestions Area , is meant for problems, comments, and suggestions for the website itself, so I moved your thread to the car specific forum applicable to your vehicle.

This was explained in the sticky thread at the top of that forum, or click here if you can't find it, which will explain why you shouldn't have posted your thread there.

If you do not have your own repair shop then you will pay more for this alteration than for a used TLX. I wonder why change a reliable 5-speed automatic transmission whose resource with proper maintenance is 300-400k, to a less reliable 8-speed with a resource of 150-200k. ?

My trans seems to have a whine and slow shifting from stop. Yesterday it clunked when I just started up in park... So I was checking if the swap was done and how. I have 93K on my wagon and plan on keeping it (love the car) and if the trans is acting up, would it be worth the swap or even do a complete TLX transplant.

The fact is that you will need a programmer who can sew up the engine without direct injection in the ECU from TLX, then you will need to buy a wire harness from TLX to connect it to the TSX harness, then you will need to redo the automatic transmission mountin brocket, then you need to accurately weld the CV Axels so that the splined one in transmission is from TLX, and the splined bearing is from TSX. This is a very large amount of work, and in the US it can be measured in $ 20-30k

Same difficulty, ILX started installing 8 speed transmissions in 2016 along with direct injection engines
How often do you change the oil in your transmissions?

I changed the fluid about 80K. Not sure how the previous owner maintained the wagon. ust trying to evaluate my options if I need to replace the trans. I was hoping the TLX or ILX would be close enough to the TSX to make it worth going with a DCT.

Did you change the trans fluid filter? Have you done diagnostics with a scanner?

No, didn't change the filter. Will do with the 100K service. Haven't hooked up a scanner - no check light.
