Rear Brake Problems & Solution

As you probably know, all 2009 and few 2010 TSX have had issues with rear premature brake pad wear. According to Accordsettlement.com, the fairness hearing was on July 26, 2010 and no update since. Again, as you may know, 2008-2009 Accords shares the same rear brake pads as TSX (same part number) and has been affected by this issues as well. So while browsing on Accord forum, I came upon this instruction from the new brake pads which I believe is a solution to this problem. See below. I just purchased the new rear brake pads online and hoping this instruction and parts are included. Does anyone have any updates regarding this issue? Did anyone purchase the new rear brake pads (part #43022-TA0-A40) ?

According to the Accord member he wrote,
"just to give everyone a heads up, there's an update to this rear accord brake concern. v-springs are installed to the rear brake pads during replacement. also, the two caliper pins on the caliper brackets are likely to have been installed backwards.. so they need to be inspected, regreased, and rotated if they were. there are detailed instructions that come with a new box of brake pads. interestingly enough, honda has not published any technical service bulletins reguarding this issue."

Interesting. I just took my car in for a slight vibration under braking, and they said it was the front. They changed my front pads and turned the rotors. They didn't touch the rear, but my service guy did tell me they did a TSB for the front and installed some extra springs (or clips I can't remember which) per the TSB. I guess if I looked at the TSBs I could figure it out, but its smooth again now so I didn't care. My rears are fine so far, and I have 21k miles.

I am due for an oil change and I will be getting the brakes looked at as well. I am getting a squealing/pulsing when braking, and there is a constant "click click click" sound from the front when the wheels are in motion (or at least it sounds like it is from the front; hard to tell the exact location while driving).

there is a TSB for this, i don't remember what it s i guess i could find the repair paper work some where.. but I went in because my rear brakes were shot, and they replaced the rotors with the slotted ones i had in the trunk, pads, and fixed this issue all under the tsb for free
