Rear brake issue on '09 TSX

I've seen some posts about rear brake issues on 2nd gen TSX's, but nothing definitive to have the dealer correct the issue. Is there a TSB out there for the rear brakes? The dealer fixed my problem with the front brakes a few months ago with a TSB. I had my tires rotated a few weeks ago and took a look at the outer pads on the rear wheels and they looked fine, but the service tech told me my inner pad needed to be replaced. Shouldn't the pads wear evenly? Can I get an assist on this one?

How many miles does your car have?

Your lucky they even fixed your front brakes. My rotors are wapped @44k miles and when I took it to the dealership, they said they wouldn't replace them under warranty because it's due to my driving habits.

On top of that, they charged me $40 to "diagnose" the brakes, just to tell me that my rotors are warped... which I already knew.

FUCK THEM

I just had to have my rear brake pads replaced on my 2010 at 32,000 miles a couple weeks ago. The outer rear pads were still fine but the inner pads were both worn down. All they could tell me is that they didn't find anything wrong that would be causing them the wear unevenly, but that it is common on the TSX's for this to happen. I was also wondering if this is what others are experiencing, it seems like something is not quite right for them to be wearing out like this. Note that my car was not included in the brake pad settlement and came from the factory with the "improved" brake pads.

Mine should be worn out at 15k miles according to the last inspection. I'll have to check for myself.

Getting ready to do my brakes today in my 2010 TSX and will check for the uneven wear. I really would have thought Honda would have fixed the premature pad wear, and have heard that they started using some new improved pad, but at 35k....I don't call that new and improved. Granted, I seem to be getting about the average miles for brakes and some are getting less. Will report back later.

I replaced my rear pads a little while back because of the bad pads from the factory. Anyhow, I now have 75k on the car and the pads (especially the right rear) need to be replaced again. They are wearing uneven. I believe Acura has a problem with the calipers on these cars and won't admit. Anyhow, car won't pass inspection at my regular garage because of the right rear brake. They want to replace pads/rotor and caliper. I'm saying no way.....I did replace the rotor the last time becaue of the shitty pads it destroyed the rotor and Acura only gave us 150 dollars. Come on....
Is anyone else having issues like this?

I had just replaced the pads last weekend. the inner pad was shot on both sides and the outer wasn't too bad. Normally i would resurface the rotor but it was smoth and didn't need it. I replaced the pads with wagner lifetime. I can only take advantage of the lifetime part if they wear evenly. If not, it'll be new rear pads every year. I bought the car at 40k with new pads and rotors and replaced the rear pads at 64k. So i only got 24k miles from them, i am disappointed greatly.

There is the class action that was done a couple years ago but that only gives you a little bit of money towards the brakes. I am sure acura did this to get out of a tsb that would have cost them even more money, slick, very slick.

The brake issue may also be related to parking brake sticking. My boot is torn so I wd 40 the cable and worked the parking brake multiple times. Hope this helps. Does anyone know what to look for if the caliper is truly bad? It seems to work properly to me.

Had my brakes done at the dealer at 20000 miles as they were about 3 mm left, evenly worn. I called Acura client relations, told they will cut a check for $150 towards the brake job. Man.... This is gonna cost a lot just to hane the pads changed every 20000 miles for the life of the car.

If you continue to have wear problems, or just because, do it yourself. TSX brake pads are shockingly easy to replace (rotors too actually). You may have to buy a few tools, but nothing fancy or too expensive. There are a number of DIY threads here (on the 1st gen TSX forum anyway).

I replaced the rear pads and it was mainly the right rear inside pad that was worn. I put hwk pads on with slotted rotors. I hoping that the pads don't wear out though cause this is a little more expensive than the 20 dollar pads you can get for the car.
