Questions about oil consumption issue
It took a few days. They didn't drive it much, so I'm giving it a 500 mile break in to seat the rings correctly.
My sons 2009 AT TSX just started an oil consumption test and I believe it's losing more than 1 quart every 1000 miles, but here are my questions:
#1: My son had to pay $50 for the oil change and I don't know why he should have to pay since it's their TSB that brings the car to them?
#2: we got the car back and there was at least 1/2 quart too much on the dipstick (at the top of the bend in the dipstick) which obviously would work in Acura's favor when we bring the car back after 1000 miles. Has anyone heard of a dealer fudging the test this way?
I have a call into the service advisor but have not heard back yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Both issues have been brought up in a thread.
The cost of the oil change to start the oil consumption needs to be addressed to Acura North America. The local dealer gets little to nothing for warranty work so they will charge for it. They don't know from the start if it'll need the work done. The dealer at the local level would also be losing if we all went in for a free oil change even tho we didn't meet the need for warranty work. Maybe talk to a regional rep to get Acura to reimburse the cost if the vehicle indeed does get approved for the repairs.
Someone else complained about getting too much oil to start the consumption. They will question if you know how to read a dip stick. Complain to the service dept, ask for a manager if nothing comes out of it. Get it done correctly and leveled.

2 - Did you check it while it was hot (and allowed to sit for 5 minutes)? or cold? I also had too much oil in mine... it burned off by the time I got back to them and it was close enough. If I were you, I would make them drain some. I should have when I went in.
my car is in the dealer fixing this problem, i drive my car 880miles and my car was low 1.5 quart so they say yea they gonna fix! before that when i go to do the test i have to pay the oil change but if the car have the problem they gonna return the money when they finish! i will post here any information for now they told me its gonna be for long to fix cause the pistons its in back order and they have to replace the engine block too in my car i don't remember the reason! sorry for my english
Just completed the oil consumption test at Stevens Creek Acura in Santa Clara, CA and they confirmed that I was burning more than a quart of oil per 1000 miles. They went ahead and ordered the parts and I am waiting for a call from them in the next month or so. The service technician told me that when they get the parts in, I can drop the car off and they will give me a loaner vehicle for a few days or for however long it takes to fix.
They didn't charge me a dime for the oil consumption test and even washed it for me when it was done!
