Possible Faulty Battery? Will Warranty Cover This?
Hello, I had a quick question about my 2012 TSX.
So I was sitting in my wagon the other night playing my music, waiting on someone, just sitting there, tapping the break out of boredom. and the battery had died. I'm assuming my battery might be faulty since I can't imagine the battery dying so soon.
I guess my question is, will my stock warranty (The one that's good until 50k miles) cover the battery being faulty? Just wondering since I'm about 700 miles away from hitting my 50k mark and after that I'll have no warranty.

My 2012 Wagon got a new battery. Surprising as the car is only 2.5 years old. I have other new cars, battery went 8 years, no issue. Don't know if OEM TSX battery is weak. Mine was new, under the CPO program.
Battery warranty is prorated, often.

I'm able to replicate the problem by starting the car, then shutting it off, then starting it back up again a few times, eventually, when trying to crank the car again, you'll see the lights on the gauge cluster dim a little bit as if it's losing power.

Yeah the battery looks pretty new but, who knows, could be faulty or something. I might try calling an Acura nearby to see what they say, I'd hate to drive all the way where I bought the car originally, too far.

Hey thanks for all the feedback but I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get a new battery, maybe something a bit bigger since I've been reading on other forums that the stock battery is somewhat small, thanks for the help everyone.

I haven't done any of that yet. The problem is that I'm going to be making a hefty drive this weekend to San Diego and by the time I come back I think I'll be over my 50k warranty. Maybe next weekend I can try taking it to autozone and have them check it.

well my battery is dead if i dont drive the car for two days. Barely had the car for over a month and ive had to jump start it 3-4 times already. I dont know if it's the battery as it says "10/14" so it has to be fairly new. so it might be draining because there is something draining it in the electrical system. i emailed the dealer and asked if diagnosing the battery and electrical system is covered under warranty, and they said it was. so we shall see, i might just bring it in.

I'm a little confused. We know that batteries are covered and while we know that the stock battery might not be the longest lasting available, it is good for several years. Why would you want to spend $100 on replacing a battery when Acura will do it for free?
Also, why shouldn't the diagnostics for determining why a battery dies every two or three days be covered? Unless there are some sort of electrical mods there should be no reason why the diagnostics and repair wouldn't be covered.
For that matter, it should be a drop off, pick up a loaner and get the car once it is fixed (or in the OP's case, when the battery is replaced)

I too have an 12' TSX wagon and definitely been questioning the battery. I noticed a few months ago that it just wasn't cranking as it should. My car was put in service Sept of 12 so 2.5 years ago. Has anyone confirmed if Acura would replace under warranty?

I have the 2012 sports wagon with tech package. During the past year my battery has died intermittently. The last time it died, I got a jump and drove to the Acura dealer, 40 miles away, only to have them tell me there was nothing wrong with the battery that a light had been on. There was no way for me to dispute this. So I went home, tail between my legs. Now I'm just out of warrantee and the battery is basically good as dead. AAA is coming and I have to pay since I've called them so many times this year.
Question: could anything be draining my battery that I don't know about that wouldn't show up in a test? At this point, I'm ready to buy a new battery. I can't afford to miss appointments.

Just get a new battery. The OEM Acura ones are garbage, especially if you're in a colder climate. It'll be a worthy investment even if the problem isn't immediately solved by doing so. Many here suggests Interstate. Perhaps your drives are too short for your alternator to be effective.
If the problem persists, then there could be a different problem.
