Loud Clunk when shifting from park

I've had a loud clunk and having to use force when shifting from park at times. I ALWAYS use the parking brake when parking inclines and never release my foot from the brake before engaging the parking lever....The noise is loud inside and outside the car it is very embarrassing and frustrating

I've had cars in the past that would do that, so when parking on an incline, I'd shift into neutral and pull the parking brake, then let off the brake and let it roll for as long as it took to engage the parking brake...*then* shift into park knowing there's no preload on the trans in park.

Does that make sense?

yep, as always heavy comes to the rescue, but with the loud clunk, there is nothing to worry about it. All that is is the Parking Pin releasing from the transmission, you're not actually going to break anything on the transmission. Its not grinding or wearing a part down. Its just being release and because of the weight it gets pushed out with a bit more force
