Leather seat issue

My driver side seat seems to have unusual wear. It always has had wrinkles which I found unacceptable but I let it go. Recently my driver side seat frame was replaced because I was hearing a loud creaking noise every time I turned left and that was the issue. When the seat was reapplied it was tighter but now you can visibly see the seat folding and cracks getting ready to form.

2012 TSX w/ 10K miles. I can understand this years down the road but not so soon. Acura will have the DM contact me soon but am I wrong here? Should it be worn this much?

Pics coming soon when I get home. Can't upload mobile.

you are worrying too much.
its not even real leather.

the fake stuff will crinkle and wrinkle and there is nothing you can do about it.

it is an eye sore when you get in or out of the car, but really think about it...does your ass care?

no, your ass doesnt care if the seat is wrinkly or not.

P.S. real leather will wrinkle crinkle and crack more so than this fake stuff

what do you do for upkeep. I use a leather conditioner on mine which helps it.

I know, I just find this amount of wrinkling is ridiculous. I have learned to live with wear and tear but its difficult for me to accept this as normal after a year.

Lexol Cleaner and Conditioner. But the issue came from the way the seat was made. The cracking was a bad wrinkle and then when the seat frame was replaced it became this.

its definitely normal...

my 2006 TL with 65k miles has the same shit.
i barely fucking drive the damn thing.

eventually, you'll be like, they're god damned seats!
they do their job fine. which is to keep my ass comfortable and planted.

I just did an 18 hour road trip one way, and my ass did not care one bit that the seats are wrinkly.
thats 36 hours of seat time.

When did you start seeing it? I started noticing it at 2000 miles and its getting worse and worse. My concern is that it'll get so bad that it'll drive me nuts or need replacement. I don't know but i expect it to last a little longer. I've had loaner cars with more miles that didn't have any of this crap.

Lol, true. I guess I'm just annoyed seeing seats hold up so poorly and seeing them get much worse after they replace a seat frame. :p

The fake leather has ripped on the driver side. It looks really bad, and I didn't do a very good job of fixing it either. Anyone else have this problem?

Mine is a little wrinkled on the outside bolster that I smash when I turn to get out of the car. Mine aren't wrinkled at all in the middle like that though. Maybe it has to do with your cold winters and being dry? Thanks for reminding me to reapply the Lexol I bought last year.

Ps. I liked that the pictures included your crotch.

Not my crotch but close enough. . I needed a good image and it was the only angle that showed well.

The "seating areas" are real leather (everything that touches you when you are sitting down) but the sides, front and back are pleather/naugahyde/vinyl/leatherette

Took a closer image. I'll be asking Acura about it but if they say no I'll live with it.

well that last photo does not look good but hey that is what fake leather will do. im replacing my seat after a airbag deployed and found out the sides are fake leather and SUCK the color fades and like what happened in the photo they come apart a alot.

Now the leather when i bought the car unseen i didnt notice it. opened the door it was the first thing i did notice. seat condition was not common. but i asked around and the acura leather tends to do that A lot. Miss my other leather seats.

But hey like it was said. they are comfy for the butt to sit in it wont complain

Update: Acura Client Relations called me and informed me that they will be replacing the leather due to abnormal wear. Surprised myself but I'll take it

Wonder why my picture posted upside down.

Ceb-2009, 87,000 miles.

I mean, I tend to lean to the right since I have a manual but nothing crazy. You can see where it's wrinkling at the top and probably going to rip more.

I used contact cement to glue it back and then painted it black. Bout the best I could do. Still looks bad.

If I were you, I'd write a registered letter to Acura describing the problem ( include that photo) and state that you believe that it is a manufacturing defect since other Acura owners have not reported these issues. I would then ask them to authorize a goodwill repair. I'd also include an approximate date and mileage when the problem first surfaced.

You've got nothing to lose but $5 for the letter.

I might take your advice. Not sure how the seats are assembled but they would really only need to replace the upper portion of the seat.

Or you could contact Acura Corporate directly and ask to open a case with an Acura Client Relations specialist. You should get a phone call within a day or two and they will ask you to email some pictures. From there they will determine a resolution and then if they decide to fix it they will contact your dealer of choice to set up a repair.

Just throwing it out there but your interior will benefit greatly by using a sun shade year round, The sun is your interiors worst enemy.

I bought a 2013 TSX just last year and already had the drivers seat(not where I sit) replaced because of dye transfer after I bought the simonize package. NOW the (Seat) is bagging excessively and I'm 125 lbs. Very disappointed. Going back to dealership to see what's going on. They treat me like i'm a pain...but I would never have bought leather seats had I known this was going to happen. It's been a real pain!!!
