Very minor scrape. We were in St. Louis in a downtown hotel in the parking garage. I went to check out and wait for her and saw some lady head up the ramp straddling both lanes. I just knew. But the garage door closed and I couldn't see anything. About 30 seconds later my wife came down and said the lady was going up the middle (blind ramp) and she have to veer to miss her and just kissed the wall. Not too bad. But, I have to pay for it out of pocket because my wife didn't let her hit us. Oh well......
Here is the damage. The black is the color of the plastic underneath.

So, my sister works at CarStar. The one guy I have ALWAYS trusted with my cars retired from doing it on the side. So, I went to her place. This is what I picked up today.

I though they knew the color was RED not RED with a Black hue....

The broke part of it removing it......
Left side that was repaired

Right side and how it is supposed to look

Jagged Edge....beat up from removal?

Chip in the corner by the silver fog lamp in the corner (hard to see)

Gouge in the bumper from removing ground piece

Funniest part....in the sunlight, they added metallic to the paint. It shimmers!!! Also, the part that was jacked up looks good (other than the metallic paint) and the part that was fine to begin with looks the worst.
WTF, was the painter blind?????

This happened a couple of days ago. The manager of the place called me and apologized. They overnighted a new ground piece that comes pre-painted. They are going to repaint my entire front bumper to fix the gouge.
Since my sister works there, I am being very calm and giving them a 2nd chance to actually fix it right this time. I just hope it all goes well this time. The car has been dropped off and will be repaired (again) tomorrow.

That is my main question in this whole thing. Even if a manager didn't look the car over because it was such a small fix, at what point did the guy that put it back together think, "ya, this looks right"?
I can say the same thing about the guy that mangled the piece getting it off, breaking the edge off. Or the painter (if a different guy) that thought the color looked right....or.....
Only because my sister working there I gave them this opportunity. I can't say I'm feeling good about it right now. My whole bumper could look like shit. At that point, I will ask that they pay to have it repaired else where.

wow! talk about repair standards lol
Since your sister works there, does she know what kind of quality of work they do? I am assuming she would have steer you away or encourage you to use them for the repair.
Good luck op.

I guess I'll find out today. The place is a carstar and this particular location has won "best of Omaha" awards, but obviously my car repair wouldn't have won them anything.
Results are in (my sister sent me pics and my parents will bring me the car tonight as I am home with my wife that just had hip surgery today - labrum repair - which went very well).

Pics look good, but will reserve my final opinion until I see it in person.

Kind of an update on that. They only shot color on the lower part of the bumper and blended it. They re clear coated it all. It looks really good.
My rear bumper is a little mismatch because it was apparently re-painted before I bought the car and it looked really good. Until, the sun started fading it and now it looks like a mismatch. I need to get it repainted soon. I have no idea who I am going to have do this when I get the money to do it.

- I bet they never made the connection between the car and his sister.
So, I know it's all hindsight, but in the first pic, the only damage was paint scraping of the front aero piece, yeah?
Don't those come pre-painted? Why not just buy a new piece straight away and replace it yourself? It's like a few screws and some double sided tape.
Was the respray job really less than $350? Seems to me that it would be less headache to just buy new parts and install rather than taking it to be repaired and risking them f-up something else (like they did, unfortunately).
Just curious, no disrespect meant.
