Help! Key Fobs for 2010 TSX Not Working

Hi folks! Looking for some help/advice on my 2010 TSX. Both my driver 1 and driver 2 key fobs stopped working recently - they won't unlock the car doors, pop the trunk, etc. I am able to still do all of these functions while inside the car with the lock/unlock buttons, trunk button, etc. After a two-hour visit to my local Acura dealer, I was told that my Multiplex Information Control Unit and Immobilizer Keyless Control Unit both need to be replaced for $1300 (just parts, not labor)!!!!

Can this possibly be true? From what I've read the MICU controls several functions in the car and I have no other issues other than the one described here. Does anyone have any other ideas? If I do need to purchase both of these parts, am I able to buy them used on Ebay or something?

And before you ask, the batteries in both key fobs are fine and working. Thanks in advance for the advice!

how do you know batteries are 'fine and working' without replacing them?

I did replace the battery in the driver 1 key fob and it still doesn't work. Also the red light on both fobs lights up.

gotcha "Replaced battery and still doesn't work" in the OP would have negated the need to question that

try undoing the car battery for a few minutes and plugging it back in to see if a 'reboot' will fix the issue..

Speaking of which, how old is the car battery? If it's the OEM one from '10, a new battery CAN fix it.

There are likely codes set. A code would help diagnose the problem. Rub is an advanced scanner is req'd. Check w/ Autozone.

good luck

Both keyfobs failing suggest vehicle problem; comms, etc. System is monitored.
