Within the speedometer cluster (where the mpg and other readouts are) there is an arc shaped thin light area. Looking at the cluster different ways makes this band move as well, but it is always around the middle of the screen from left to right. Because it "moves" based on the angle of your eye to the screen and appears out of focus, I suspect that it is a reflection of some sort.

I haven't been able to photograph it (perhaps it is a UFO) but I'll try on the weekend with a real camera.

The brightness of this band increases and decreases as you change the brightness of the screen.

Is this evident on other screens too or is my display defective? I didn't notice it on the loaner but then again I didn't look for it either.

 

I think i know what you're talking about and yes it's just a lighting feature of the clusters. i think ed had it as his avatar at one point. i like it. it's more evident if you look at the clusters from the passenger seat.
