cracked windshield out of nowhere

I went to was my car today because it's nice out. There was no crack on the windshield, but right after I had dried it, walked into the garage and back out, there was a crack at the top of the windshield and going down the middle.. about 7-8 inches long. arghh!!! How could this happen? is this some sort of a stress crack (had to remove my front left wheel to install the ice box yesterday)? Would this be covered under warranty?

This is not covered under warranty.....you probably had a tiny stone chip that you couldn't see and perhaps because of the weather change or the force of the car wash hose culd have helped to crack the windshield. Mine cracked last year I had a micro ding and it got to be (-13 below) here in OH...it cracked right where the heat hits the windshild and made a perfect crack from oneside to the next....I checked it out and you could run your fingers over where it started and you could feel a little ding...

I have American Family.. they do cover windshield repairs with 0 deductible.. but this crack is pretty big.. lol. I'm gonna have it looked at to see if it's actually repairable or not.

that coverage includes windshield replacement.. the replacement is still considered a repair.

The same thing happened to the windshield on my RSX about a month ago. I parked my car at work (there was no crack) and when I came back out after work, there was a 3 inch crack in my windshield originating at the bottom of the glass. By the time I got home the crack spread almost the entire length of the windshield (from hitting a few bumps in the road).

I was worried it wouldn't be covered under warranty, but I took it to my dealship the next day. The service manager took a look at it, and there was a very (I mean very) tiny chip in the windshield. He took some close up photos (couldn't even see the chip in the photos) and sent them off to Honda Canada or whoever looks after that sort of warranty. He called me the next day and said they would replace my windshield under warranty (due to a stress crack) free of charge.

Wouldn't hurt to take it to them to have a look!
