CPO 2009 TSX dealer rip off
CPO 2009 TSX dealer rip off
Just took home a CPO tsx and found that what I thought was a scratch on the front grille is actually a crack. Hell, the whole three piece grille system needs to be replaced. I just took this car home.. am I out of luck to get the dealer to fix this? A CPO car shouldnt have such obvious damage to the front grille. If a rock flew up on the car it would fly right onto my radiator. I know that's a liability. Just want to know if I can get my car in the CPO condition that I signed up for. If he doesnt fix it is there anything else I can do to make him feel the pain of trying to slip one over me? Your thoughts are appreciated.

This might be a case of something they honestly were not aware of. Bring it to their attention and see what they do. If you get nothing but hostility just contact Honda/Acura customer service and explain to them what happened and how you were treated, then let them know your best friend (insert name here) writes for the local newspaper and you were thinking of having her do a piece on the deteriorating quality of Honda from the mid 90's until now.
And also, let them know how nice the dealer was at toyota with your best friends car and how she doesn't have to deal with this treatment.

sorry to hear of that-
My suggestion before you scream at the dealer go there and show it to them.
It is too bad you did not or your expert friend did not notice this crack before you signed the papers.
Good luck
I personally love my 06 tsx. It now has damage thanks to the driver in a dodge that hit the back of it while I was waiting at a redlight. Their insurance is covering the repair cost and for a rental car while it is being repaired.

While not the same exact issue, I too had an issue 6 miles into ownership of our pre-owned '09 TSX. I calmly called the dealer when the problem arose, and they gladly took care of the issue next day, free of charge. I can honestly say it was a pleasurable experience aside from the initial gut check and unhappy wife.
Call the dealer and gently explain what you found. If they are a reputable dealer, they should take care of it for you.

sorry to hear that. my bet is they wont work with you. they can easily just say that it cracked after you drove it off the lot.
ya $500 is a nice chunk of change for a grill theyre waiting to extract from you.
hope they fix this on acura's dime.

I agree. It sounds like the OP has kind of put the cart in front of the horse here. How the heck are we supposed to know what a dealer is going to do? Take it back and show it to them. And to stay with the minor rant, this should have been noticed when the car was picked up. Maybe others can learn from this experience. When dealing with a used car (and dealers), assume nothing, CPO or not. Ask questions and take a good look at what you're buying.

So They actually DID fix the grill, but on the CPO 150 point inspection it was checked off as "Meets Acura standards" which is a lie. The person doing the inspection needs to be retrained/fired. Thanks for all the comments and support guys!
Did they replace it with a new one?
Hey guys, so the grille is nice and fixed now yay! I also used my powers of persuasion and they are fixing all the damages on the hood on Monday.
It just goes to show that when car dealers see a young attractive woman they think they can take advantage and assume I'm ignorant about cars. I did learn my lesson though, next time I'm going to buy new :p
