Climate Control doesn't work properly
Hi guys,
Does anybody else noticed that the temperature inside is not accurate? When it's a hot day and i'm starting the car and it's like 100F inside, I set temp to 72F and fan moves with speed 2 or 3, so it just can't cool off the car. So I have to lower temp to "Lo" for fan so start on max.
So I brought the thermometer to my car and here is the the prove. Temp set, Auto on 72F and the temp in the car 80F, fan speed 1. So the question is what the hell is climate control waiting for?
Here is the video I tapped.

Tell me if you have the same problem.
thanks

I've found the climate control to be generally retarded... it doesn't cool fast enough and the temperature is also relative to the temperature on the MID.
For example, on a day when it's 65 outside and I set the climate control to 68, it acts like a heater and gets *very* warm. If it's mid-70s outside and I set the climate control to 68, it's not.
I thought 68 should be 68 no matter what, but the car certainly doesn't seem to feel that way!

Some or most auto climate control systems use an external temp sensor as a reference for adjusting the climate control in the cabin. There's also one in the passenger compartment to serve as an internal reference.
My old Q45 would blow cool (69 F) until the external temp sensor freaked out and read -150 F then it would blow fire out of the vents in order to bring the temp *up* to 69F from -150 F.
Some BMW's (an old E36 M3) had the temp sensor under the car and *when* it got struck by road debris, would do the same as the Q.
I set mine on 69, on auto and it does a good job of cooling by itself. Sometimes if the g/f gets silicon vaginosis she can adjust a little warmer on her side.
IMHO, none of the new R134a systems cool as good as the old R12 systems did. You have to be moving or have a monster fan in order to draw enough air across the condensor and make the cabin cool.
Most systems can only change the temp of the air about 40(?) degrees from ambient. So, if it's 100, the coldest it will probably get would be 60. After you're on the road for a while and the a/c is on recirc, then it will get a lot colder.

That's weird. I never have this problem in my 1G. When it's really hot outside, the fan will stay on pretty low for a couple of seconds until it has the ability to cool down, but then it cools the cabin extremely quickly (I even get comments about that sometimes). I almost always have it on auto.
the problem is that the fan is not blowing more then speed 2 or 3, I do not understand why (if it will blow with speed 4 or 5, it will cool off the cabin with no problem in a few minutes). It just DOESN'T WORK properly. Just don't get why they are not fixing it

The problem I find with the TSX's AUTO setting is that it takes waaay too long to switch back to fresh air from recric. Any car should be in recric NO longer then 15 minutes. Any longer is
. I live in Canada and set mine to 19c[66F]. Even in the winter I set the temp to no more then 21c. I think you should try setting the temp a bit cooler like 66F. I agree the TSX's ATC is not the best. The best I have had is in the Chrysler Pacifica. Only goes into recric only the hottest of hot days. Cools the car[very larger car] very quickly.

mine sits auto 70 degrees everytime i'm in the car unless i have the windows open.. works fine.. cools down quickly and heats up quickly.. fan blast then slows down just fine.. i don't think it ever reaches its highest setting but for me when i get in the car on a hot day i crack the sunroof and open the windows turn the car on and once the ac starts blowing cold i close the front windows, and start to drive most the heat escapes the rear windows then as it gets down to where i like it i close the rear windows and its fine the rest of the time in the car.. But there has been many times its been on auto and i've gotten a phone call right when i got in the car and i had to turn the ac down because it was blowing too loud...
also to put your temperature gauge behind the steering wheel might not help you much try putting it down near the arm rest.. as no air circulates pass your steering wheel :-8

did you push the button that makes the a/c go only to the inside.. like that symbol with the car and has like a arrow circling? cause if you dont press that the warm air from outside will come in no matter what temperature is inside.. if u didnt know..
B3RRYKOOL I did not, and this is not the problem, because the cold air is coming it thought the vent, the problem is with the fan speed. If the difference in temp almost 8 degrees, why is the fan blowing with only speed 1? that is the question.
I think the retardants of this climate control has something to do with "GPS-linked and solar-sensing", does anybody know how to turn that off?

boydanger - that is good, I really hope that there is something wrong with just my system, because if we all have the same problem, it means that they are not going to fix that, because they probably think that that is thy right way for climate control to work.
I'll take my car to the dealer next week.
I'll take my car to the dealer next week.
Just came from the dealership.
After I explained them what is the problem, they said it's totally NORMAL. They said that if it's 80F inside and you set it to 72F, it's not suppose to cool off the cabin fast. They said it will EVENTUALLY(apox. 3-4 hours or 10 hours) will cool off the cabin. They said that there is no guarantee on how fast the climate control will match the temperature to what you set.
After I told them that a lot of people of the internet complaining about that, he said that people on the internet are always complaining, so no need to take this seriously, especially Acura owners.
Lesson learned, ACURA - NEVER AGAIN!

I have found the same issue; the fan does not blow enough to cool the car off. Even when I switch out of auto and push the fan on high it acts like it is on 3 or something. We just started getting the warm weather (like 80 degrees) and it takes forever to cool the car off. I am hoping that this is an actual issue and not typical of this system because when hits hazy hot and humid by me this is going to be a nightmare.
Yes, temp to low and fan on hi or auto mode it takes forever to get the cabin cool with outside temps around 80. Typically this time of year we are in the 90’s so this is going to be a problem. I didn’t measure it but I think the air out of the vents is cold enough it just seems like the fan is too weak. With my 1st gen TSX you could chill a keg on the front seat, with the 09 not so much… with the 1st gen I would run on low temp for a few minutes and then set it for 68, with the 09 I have it on low for just about the entire 25 mile commute and it isn’t even that hot out yet.
Hopefully I will get an 09 loaner when I bring it in so I can compare.
