Check Tire Pressure Light On Already
Check Tire Pressure Light On Already
My 09 TSX just hit 4500 miles and I already got the low tire pressure lights on, (its 28 psi on left sides and 30 psi on right sides) . Did anyone have this problem? I know there aren't any air leaking out of the tire. If I take it to the dealer, will they fix it at no charge? Any comments would be appreciated. BTW, this is my first thread so please go easy on me
I doubt anything needs to be fixed. Tires lose pressure naturally over time, that is why you need to check the pressures, usually on a monthly basis, and adjust as needed. I think you just need to put air in your tires. Look at the sticker on the door jamb for the correct pressures.

How do you know it's not leaking from a screw or faulty schrader valve, etc?
If you have a Discount Tire in your area, they will probably diagnose it and repair it for free. (Most all of them here do because they want you to think of them when you need new tires, and they're really pretty good about not damaging wheels and so forth.)
To see for sure what's going on if it is leaking, you have to dunk it in a tank and look for air bubbles. Most tire shops have a water bin or a machine that submerges the wheel/tire in a large tank of water.
If you're getting 4500 MILES and you haven't had much of a drop in tire pressure, I'd say it's pretty normal. You should ideally be double-checking your pressure every week. (Not that I actually do it.

Sometimes the dealers don't do the full PDI as they are supposed to and yes tires loose air and should be checked once a month. I only wish all Hondas has the readout on each tire in their console, would make my life easier. Nissan has it on their Altimas, maybe the next gen of Hondas will carry it. On my sister's 08 the TPS light came on a week after she purchased the car. Add some air in to the tires to make the warning go out. If after a week it returns you have a problem with one of the tires.

Had the same issue with mine @ 6000 miles. As soon as the temperatures began to dip, I had to add 6 lbs of pressure to each tire..... (This happens to all tires. It is more obvious due to the technology with the car...tire pressure monitor..)
I think this is a common problem. I'm in OH and my wifes 05 Pilot lights would always come on in the winter time it's natural to lose air in cold weather. But my Honda dealer told me that they have always had problems with the sensors. We had one replaced in an 07 CRV. I check the air 0n my 09 TSX every week and they are always around 31 - 33 and no problems. I have 6500mi.
and the TL does as well I'm pretty sure. MDX too...
I'm guessing all Acuras do.
oh, and having your tires filled with nitrogen instead of air will help keep the
pressure swings to a minimal amount.
And, yeah, if you press the 'i' center button on the center of the rh lower part of the steering wheel when the "Tire Pressure OK" is on the MIDI display in the center of the speedo it will display individual tire pressures.
