car seat leather issue with brand new 2011 TSX
Hi,
I just bought a brand new 2011 TSX sedan with ebony leather over the weekend. The car had only 5 mi when I saw it at the dealer. After I drove the car home on the same day (about half an hour drive), I noticed that the middle section of the bottom of the driver-side seat had started to stretch and wrinkle already. I weighed less than 150lb. I didn't see the same issue after sitting on the passenger-side seat. When I felt the leather with my hand, I noticed that the leather of driver-side seat bottom was softer and not as supportive compared to the passenger-side seat. This is my first car with leather seats. So, I am not sure whether this is normal or an issue I should be concerned about. I don't know whether the dealer will be willing to fix this under warranty.
Thanks for your help.

My salesperson called me back. She told me that this was the way thing was from the factory and I might see this one seat and not the other. At the same time, she suggested me to get the protective package from the dealer. Well, I hope this won't get worse.

I have a 2010 TSX. It's a piece of crap! The paint sux and the fake Leather sux! I hate it! I have the same problem with my "Leather Trimmed Seats." Read your Window Sticker. They are NOT FULL LEATHER! What a joke! Waiting for my new Audi S4 to arrive to port! Can't wait!!!!!!!!

I think its the way it is. If I were you I WOULDN'T get the protective package. Just get you some high quality leather conditioner and protectant. It will keep the leather supple.

Take it back to the dealer and compare yours with others sitting on the lot. If there is a problem it should be obvious and insist that they replace the cover. I've done this before. If you bitch enough they'll swap it. If they give you a hard time ask to speak with an Acura rep.

Absolutely have the dealer check it out. BTW, anyone who thinks any car in the 30 - 40 K range has all leather seats is an idiot. Read before you buy. My 2010 TSX leather seats are extremely comfortable and look great - compared to cheaper Honda leather or other makes. Perhaps detractors out there should check out BMW pleather. Audi A4 seats are the same - the middle parts are leather, the sides are not. Look at their forum and you will see similar complaints. Buy a good leather cream and apply from time to time. You can also use Meguiars leather wipes, or some other quality car care brand (no alcohol) for interim protection.

Leather will stretch and it's natural. All the I've owned cars in the last 10 years and I had quite a few, all had leather seats. Regardless of the perceived quality of leather, to keep it looking new, you have to maintain it properly. I generally clean my seats with a damp micro fiber cloth once a month and apply Lexol leather conditioner (spray bottle) with a small sponge. Your leather seats will look great for years to come.
