buzz/rattle over driver's left shoulder

I have been experiencing a slight buzzing/rattle sound over my left shoulder in my new TSX. It only occurs on certain driving surfaces, but is somewhat annoying. Especially since I had the same problem in my old car, a Nissan 200SX. Haven't been able to tell where its coming from, and if I take it to the dealer (like I did with my old car) I'm sure that it will stop while the dealer drives it. Anyone else experience this?

Hi, I have the same thing. Only on a certain slightly rough road around here. I had it when the car was brand new, but two weeks later I haven't heard it much.

To me, it almost sounds like a buzzing mosquito in my ear. I've localized it to somewhere around my shoulder too.

It's mostly annoying because the car is otherwise so quiet.

Try looking at the plastic piece that is part of the seat belt adjuster. I'm talking about the flat piece that slides against the B pillar as you move the seat belt adjuter up and down. Try flicking this piece with our finger. Some people have applied felt or tape to quiet it down. The thing tends to vibrate against the pillar when you drive. Of course, it could be something else completely

First generation TSXs (2004-2008) sometimes have this. My car has done it. I have 2005 TSX. Flicking it or holding it is good advice to see if this is the problem.

Jottle:

Do you have a first generation TSX?

I had the same thing, but I localized mine to the handle above the driver's side window. It had been doing it for a few days before I tried this, but I just pulled the handle down a couple times and let it return to position, and I guess that fixed whatever two surfaces were buzzing against each other.

Its definitely that button you push to adjust the seat belt height. Both my driver and passenger side do it. Just another thing to add on to my list of things to get fixed when I take it in next.

You could just put some tape in there. The dealership will just put tape in it. I doubt they'll replace it. Even so, they'll have to tear apart your panel trim and will likely do more damage than good. I'd recommend you try a DIY fix before going to the dealership. The techs know almost squat... Also, the replacement part is likely to be identical in design and will likely rattle as well. It's a gamble
