Blend Oil Change
Blend Oil Change
My 2009 TSX has 29K miles and I had an oil change at the Acura dealership last week. I usually change the oil when the maintenance minder reaches 30%. When the service was done I looked at the invoice I noticed that 5 qts of 05-20 "oil blend" was added. I asked the service writer about it and he advised that the added oil was a synthetic blended with regular oil. I had not seen this before and I wonder if I am getting the proper oil. Previously, the vehicle has had only regular oil (I guess). Can anyone advise me if the proper lubicrant has been added and, if not, what can be done? If it is OK, can I go back to regular oil at some point down the road or is my car now committed to this blended oil? I wish I had been told about this prior to the service being done. Thanks, guys.
you're fine.
Most synthetics are blends of regular oil.
and in fact; you can switch between the two. there is no harm in switching. there is no harm in having a blend.
the real synthetic stuff is expensive.
I have tried a whole slew of different kinds of oils in my 2006 TL.
from 0w-40 to 5w-30.
from full synthetics to blends to regular conventional oil.
there is no harm done.
the important takeaway is to change your oil and filter on a regular basis according to the MID.
