Auto Lock/Unlock Squeaking
Auto Lock/Unlock Squeaking
Hi
I have my auto lock/unlock engage when I shift into/out of park.
When doing so, I can hear squeaking happening, presumably from the locks. Has anyone else had this? It does not happen all the time, but it is becoming more frequent and is somewhat annoying to listen too.
I'm wondering if the mechanisms just need to be lubricated or something. I'm guessing it's behind the door.

Take it to the dealer and get it replaced under warranty. Its the door lock actuator. When mine was squealing, it was usually after it rained for awhile. Maybe have the dealer wet the door area with a hose for 5 mins and then have them lock and unlock the car via the key fob.
@thundebt3 - this implies you had yours fixed. is that the case?
How long is the warranty on this? I'm not good with that stuff but I'm sure I could find out easily enough going through my paperwork. Car is nearly exactly 2 years old.

Yes, I had the door lock actuator replaced. I made an appt with the dealer and told them the door lock actuator was acting up. They already have experience with this with the 1st Gen TSX's. They called me up the next day and told me they couldn't reproduce it. I told them to keep it another night since it was going to rain overnight (and I wanted to play with the loaner some more
). The next morning they called me up and told me the rain did the trick and they were able to make it squeal and that my car would be ready in the afternoon.
The lock actuator should be covered under the standard bumper to bumper warranty, i think 4yrs - 50K miles.
