ABS wokring or Rotor issue

So we've only had our TSX for about a week now and for the first time I had the need to brake aggressively. Not tire screeching aggresively but hard enough that you could feel the car pitching.

The 'issue' is what I believe MAY be warped rotors. At no time did the ABS light come on (although I'm not familiar enough to be sure we have one) while I was braking but the brake pedal was shaking pretty badly and got me worrying. I left off the brake when it was safe and pressed them again to verify what had happened and it was still there but obviously not in the same capacity.

Finish my drive, a couple hours later leave my destination for home and the problem never arises again.

Is this all in my head and just the way the ABS is supposed to work or should I get the rotors checked out?

Please keep in mind this is a used 09 TSX with about 38k miles on it.

Worth noting: No one else in the car acknowledged that they felt the vibration although I can recall feeling the steering wheel shake

Instead of opening a new thread.... a brief question about TSB's. If Im still covered by warranty and the TSB issue has been validated are the cost covered 100%?

A TSB is a bulletin advising a dealer how to resolve a problem. It also tells the dealer how to bill for the work and if it applies to out of warranty cars.

The only way to tell is to look at the individual TSB as each could be different.

9 TSB's??? and yea, for the front brakes judder, if your pads are not worn to the point of replacing, you are covered for new pads and a rotor resurfacing

Yes, 9 that stood out to me and applied to my year.

Keyfob, hood movement, and brakes were the most prevalent and definately apply to my car in particular. The other 6 may or may not but I thought they were worth checking out since we've only had the car for about 10 days.

Some of the ones that sparked my interest were the Valet key opening the trunk, the XM radio receiver, Audio display unit glare, and the roof molding.

Oh yes, I remember the hood movement on my '09. I knew there was a TSB for it but never took it in. I actually kinda miss it now. When I go over bumps I expect my hood to jump up and down!

Good luck with the fixes, hope the dealer will do these under warranty.

Bah, dealer is being a beezy about it. Says they dont hear/feel the brakes and dont see the hood moving. The only things they would honor were the key fob and the glare off the display which I think are cop outs. Asked him to do a ride along which I've scheduled for noon today.

Appreciate the PT's though, thanks

Just a brief update for anyone that cares.

The good folks, especially Jaime, over at Stevens Creek Acura took care of me. They replaced the Brakes, the XM Satelite receiver, my key fob, and the glare on the radio display all at no charge thanks to the TSB's.

The other 3 or 4 items I took it in for could not be verified and really were 'gimmes' that I was just interested in know if whether or not they applied.

Moral of the story... closed mouth dont get fed. And make sure you (I) READ/SEARCH

I just experience the same issue as the op. I can't seem to open the tsb link and my 09 Tsx is at 51K miles. I will hit up stealership some time next week and see what they can do for me.

you are at 51K and out of regular warranty, so dealer could be an ass and say sorry, you arent covered anymore, i wish you luck though

Agree with Pyro. Im only at 37k and I had to fight a little to get them to do it. The service manager was questioning how I had access to the TSB's and insisted I show him the brake judder even though the 'squeeling' was VERY evident.

I've DL'd the TSB and re-uploaded it to deposit files, you should print it out and bring it with you.

thats actually very rude of them to ask you, i'd probably have been pissed off if i received that response. whenever i mention TSB's, the guy goes like, well i'd have to check it out, and make sure it corresponds, but yes i do know what you are talking about

Stevens Creek Acura in San Jose doesnt have the best reputation. I just took the mechanic out on the freeway and came to a VERY aggressive stop from 80-20... with the whole car shaking it was hard for him to deny it any longer.

I think they were put off by the fact I didnt buy the car from their lot. All in all they did the work but yeah, I wasnt happy I had to leave the car for 3 days and 'prove' my concerns.

I just came back from the stealership. I told them about the tsb's, they ran my vin # and I was told that my Tsx's Vin # did not fall under the "recall" tsb's and that their was nothing they can do, they did confirm that the oil consuption issue was taken care of by first owner.

oh well, I figured I was out of normal warranty, I got the Tsx with 51K miles used. I am just going to get new pads and rotors and just fixed it my self.

Wait a min, you have an '09? It says all... you could TRY contacting customer service in SoCal to see if you can get a 'Goodwill' repair. Just let them know you dont feel safe driving, cant afford to have the work done yourself and were not aware of the TSB...

Thanks for re-hosting it, I was able to print it, but they said my Vin# doesnt fall under the tsb.
Their is another stealership 30 min from me, I might try it again, but at this point and with my mileage (51k) I should just replace pads and rotors

My dealer said it was driver error and wouldn't cover replacing or resurfacing. My buddy was gonna resurface them for free, but I read that the problem may come back so I replaced the front rotors and pads with Centric C-tech
