2012 TSX Timing Chain / Water Pump Clarification

Hey all. I've asked several people about the water pump / timing chain 110k service on my 2012 TSX 4-cyl with tech and all I get are conflicting suggestions. I know a timing chain lasts the life of the vehicle (unless an issue pops up), but what about the water pump? The factory manual states to replace the timing belt and water pump on the V6 only and says nothing about the water pump anywhere else.

I'm at 110k and have replaced the drive belt, spark plugs, all air filters replaced, had the transmission & coolant flush, tires/brakes are fine, oil is changed regularly. Am I missing anything? Thanks from a n00b.

The water pump is not considered a maintenance item like spark plugs or the timing belt, for example. The reason it's normally replaced at the same time as a timing belt is because it's either driven by or obstructed by the timing belt on most cars. It's a relatively inexpensive item so it makes sense to just replace it at the same time as the timing belt so you wont have to do a timing belt service all over again if the water pump fails before the next time the timing belt is due to be replaced again. It's a labor saving precaution.

If the car has a timing chain, there is no reason to replace the water pump unless the it has failed.
