2012 sequential mode issue(?)
Hello all,
Excuse me if I missed a thread with this issue, I tried searching, but didn't find what I was looking for.
My wife just bought a 12 TSX and today was my first time getting behind the wheel. I was trying out all the bells and whistles and then decided to try "s" mode.
My question/problem is this:
When you put the car into s is there any kind of indicator letting you know that it is in S or is it supposed to stay blank?
Looking at the manual, from my understanding, it should popup with a M(1-4) on the gauge but nothing pops up. I can not change the gears via paddles when the car is in S nor is there a light next to the S on the cluster.
Sorry for sounding like a idiot, but I'm confused and any help is appreciated.

So, if you are in D and hit the paddle it will say m(1,2,3,4) and it'll sit in the gear you choose for a minute or 2 and then go back into full auto.
If you go into S mode but DONT touch the paddles it'll change the shift points and the car won't go higher than 3rd gear. Also, if you go over 105mph it'll immediately go into 5th gear for whatever strange reason.
if you DO touch the paddles it'll say m(1,2,3,4,5) on the cluster and it'll sit in the gear of your choosing.
That's how "sport mode" works on our cars, pretty dumb if you ask me.
if yours doesn't do the above something is wrong with it.

Something is wrong with your car then... both the up and down paddles do nothing?

Oh ok.. so the paddles do work. So that's strange.. something is messed up with the S mode. Not sure why that'd happen. This is something you will have to take it to the dealer for.
When you go into S does it downshift into third automatically like it should?

Oh, well if it doesn't even light up then something is probably wrong with your shifter.

VTEC just kicked in, yo!
Sounds like there's an issue with your shifter. If you intend on using the S mode, take it to the dealer. Hopefully you have CPO warranty or something.
If in D and you shift via paddles, it shouldn't have an "M" next to the number. Only in S will it say "M" next to the number.
