with these cars, on cold start up, it is designed to idle high. the engine throws fuel on the cats to get them warmed up faster.

lets wait for another 2nd gen TSX'er to confirm.

as this is the case with the 3rd Gen TL.....my car idles at 1k on cold start ups. then it drops to about 800-900 in about a minute.

My 2010 does the same thing, I assume it's normal. Start car, revs to 1500, slowly dropping to a lil under 900. If I shift out of park, it instantly goes down

okay, then it is the same as what I described.

for EPA/CAFE reasons, the car idles high which throws fuel on the cats to get them warmed up quickly.

I posted on this a couple of months ago, and the idle speed is still an issue for me. However, further experience is showing that it's more than an idle problem. I do a lot of local, side street neighborhood driving, and it's a real chore to keep this thing under a 25 mph speed limit. I'm not a mechanic, but it seems that if the auto transmission is in third, it's gonna go 35 mph whether you touch the gas pedal or not.
Is this the way it's supposed to work?
