Hey all, just a check in: My 2009 Acura TSX 6MT's transmission suddenly became increasingly difficult to change gears during my trek in morning downtown traffic. Arrived at my office and the car needed extreme force to change gears.

Took it apart to reveal that pressure plate is toast (warped spring), fly wheel is a bit whacky and well might as well do the disk since we're there.

All this at 135,000km (84,000 miles) -- a bit earlier than I was hoping for.

Anyone else experience such early wear? I've been drive stick since '97 and normally have my disk wear out before anything else.... oh well, what can you do? ha!

I feel my gears are already more difficult to change at 45k miles. That's what I get for buying a used car... I think my car might have same problem as yours. The most noticeable thing about my car is that it's kinda difficult getting into 2nd and if I'm change from 1st to 2nd on high RPMs its pretty very difficult and feels like its stuck and won't go in. Thanks for the informative thread. How easy is it to do this yourself. BTW I only have 1 floor jacks and 4 stands lol.

I changed my fluid some time back, didn't do much... sadly... *sigh*

Anyhow, didn't do this job myself. Had it done at the dealership -- back in the day, when I had all the time in the world we changed out a few clutches and it was a pretty heavy duty job...

since you have it all open like that, don't forget to change your throwout bearing too, you'll thank yourself later.

check all bearings as well

good man, I did all that when I swapped from a 5spd to a 6spd in my RSX and the new throwout feels so much better!

Totally agree! Took the car out for the first time today after the total clutch replacement, and WOW -- the car is buttery smooth like the day it rolled out of the showroom (truck).

Funny how that thing gradually goes to shambles over time. Will savor this for a while

Surprisingly, it's at an Acura dealership. After taking my RSX to Canadian tire for an emergency brake job and the wheel coming loose the next day, I'll never ever take my car there again. It could've been a one-time incident, but NEVER going to take that chance again.

Aside from that, their retail operation is great!
