Mugen Accord concept - Red.
Does anyone have any pictures of this car? This is the only pic i have, and i have a feeling the car as a whole probably looks pretty damn sexy. I'm lookin forward to seeing more pics of it, so please post if you've found some more images.

love everything except for that huge wing, but for the rest...speechless. That is one sweet ride. I would like to see the SC go into production but most likely will be way to expensive. Look at how much their intake costs for the 1G. C-T engineering needs to get on the SC development already.

AHHHHHHH!!!! Thank you so much for posting pics!
It looks glorious.
However, i would change the rims in a heartbeat if i took posession of that car.
It also breaks my heart that Acura didnt offer the 09 TL and TSX in a vibrant red such as the color of this Mugen Accord.

Sweet jesus that car is pimp. The wing is a bit much though. That interior is among the nicest looking I've seen in any car at any price. I'd probably want to cover the black plastic parts in (real) wood laminate though that's probably not a popular opinion. I'm just a sucker for the classy look of finished wood and the right wood would (hehe) look amazing with those seats. I'd also rewrap the steering wheel in matching leather.
Man, I'm in such awe over that interior.

I think it's pretty bad ass, my problem is Mugen never represents any sort of value, which is very unlike Honda/Acura, if that came to market it would be $50K(USD). When you start talking what they charge for it, it becomes a lot less impressive, just think $30k Mugen Civic Si with no drive train upgrades.

A guy in my complex has a mugen civic si, I chuckle every time I drive by it, a $30k civic.

Well...that's fine...don't sell it to the market like that.
But make those aftermarket parts available and I'm cool with that.
I would never expect to see this for sale off the line...that wouldn't be smart.
Wouldn't hurt to sell some "beefed" up or sportier models like Lancers were doing with the "OZ" racing edition.
That's cool and I think people buy into stuff like that...IMO.
But yes...my comment was mis-directed because I really meant that these Mugen mods should be sold but not sold as part of the car off the lot.

So what? People drop stupid money into beaters. I see nothing wrong with the Mugen Civic except that it is slower than the stock Si.
Bingo, cars like this are cool for boy ricer wannabe's to jerk off to on forums, people wouldn't buy them if they were produced because they wouldn't be competitive. Let's see, Mugen Euro Accord or M3, not a tough call for those who are actually buying the car.

The point is the Mugen Civic Si didn't sell well and it was just cosmetic, why do would you think the Euro Accord/TSX would sell any better? Mugen products are notoriously expensive for what they are and lets face it you buy a TSX because it is the best car you can afford or because you are frugal and it represents a good value, much like the civic. Due to the market Honda has targeted project cars like this, while cool probably won't sell. If they were doing this for image, I think there are far better things that could be done for image.
I agree with who ever said sell the parts so people could pick and choose which Mugen parts they wanted, this way the price would remain some what affordable and yet still be exclusive.

Isn't that kit one of the standard Mugen offerings for our cars? The wheels sure look like it, but I can't really tell about the grill if it is one of the ones in the Mugen Euro pic thread.
The 96 Cobra grill nostrils are kinda cool, unless they're non-functional, which they probably are.

This kit, the one on the right is the same, isn't it? The rear looks kinda like it could be an add-on or a replacement. If they're the same, then the only thing not offered yet is the hood.

At any rate, this is the hottest 09 Honda Accord we're gonna see for a looonngg time until someone outdoes this one.
IMO, this one is gonna be at the top of my list forever, i don't know about you guys.
ttk5, thanks for that last batch of pictures you posted. It looks like there is a coat of orange pearl underneath the red. Even more glorious!

this is the same Mugen kit.
same bumper, same skirts, same exhaust, same rear lip.
the seats, the hood and the s/c are not offered to us for the TSX.
the rest of everything is, including the wheels.

I think there were not a lot of Mugen Civics offered for sale and that they all did sell. Obviously these types of cars are not going to be mainstream but if somebody wants to buy one, why not offer the option? I don't think you describe more than 50% of the buyers of TSXes.

nice! - it needs hid fogs, and the grille is SO much better. if it came like this i'd already be a 2nd gen owner.
i would take this car, minus the wing.
is that a Rotex supercharger, see why can't honda bring us something like this - if not the 2.3T engine??? damn.

To answer the specific question you asked in this post, why not offer such a car? Despite the high price, cars like this seldom make money, the market is too small and they end up discounting them just to move them. At times when all manufacturers are struggling to turn a profit a car like this makes very little sense.
When I bought my S2k in December of 07 they had a 08 Mugen Si Civic in the showroom, I was checking it out while the salesman was selling both my brother and I S2k's. He informed me he can sweeten up the already sweet deal quite a bit if either of us were interesting in the Mugen Civic. He went on to tell us they'd had it for months already and all it attracted were kids who wanted to test drive it, no serious buyers. Fast forward to February 08, my father picked up a 08 Accord from the same dealership and the Mugen Civic was still on the lot and this time quite dusty. The guy who lives in my complex ended up picking it up in April of 08, I don't know him well enough to talk to him about it, but it came from the same dealership. They sat on that poor car for much longer then they should have had to, I'm sure they will not be eager to get another similar car on their lot any time soon.
