DIY front lip

im not done with it yet.
i still need to make some minor adjustments to make it more smoother.
i still need to add some adhesive glue since 3M double side tape doesnt work.

once you get the final shape down, i'd like to purchase one if you decide to make some more.

its not an OEM lip.

yea its a home depot lip. i saw the different versions on various forums and decided to layer two of them. originally i was going to fiberglass it but i know im going to crack it because im already scraping on my 1.6" drop.

the project was pretty easy. a lot of the DIY projects ive seen on other forums took them like 15-45 minutes. i took my time with this and probably spent like 3 hours. ill probably spend another hour just cleaning it up.

i definitely like the aggressive look.

ill be working on custom eye lids ive seen on the russian forums and wrapping the upper grill in carbon fiber vinyl. im also going to add sideskirts next week

just searched the forum and found numerous threads about this mods. i think i will tackle it also, but will go to the bodyshop (since i have a hook up and they are literally a minute away from me) to get it primered and painted.

i was thinking of getting it paint matched but id have to leave my entire bumper at the shop. i cant take the lip off, get it painted, and then reinstall it because the paint will crack from the flexing and bending.

i like the black and grey theme.

im thinking of wrapping the entire lip in carbon fiber vinyl to cover up the lines.

My bro and I actually tried this mod on our cars about 6months ago. I just threw it on to get an idea of what it would look like but I wasn't really feeling it so I just pulled it off. Here are a couple pics from the test lol.

Not trying to jack your thread defcon.

Maybe I woulda like it more if I actually took the time to put it on nicely or attach it from a different angle like defcon did, but whatever I could redo it whenever I want.

Defcon if you are looking for an adhesive, I recommend 3M Super Adhesive 77. I was working with it recently and it is quite strong and easy to work with. It bonds over a period of minutes so you can take your time and re-position the lip as many times as needed. It is also quite easy to clean off your car if you ever want to take the lip off...just use a cloth and some WD-40.

ttk, no worries man. i wanted to see how yours turned out and it looks good.

the top piece by itself looked awesome but the screws were showing. then i added the bottom piece of the lip to cover the screws and angled it higher and it turned out to look like a splitter.

thanks for the adhesive recommendation. ill try it out

yeah i dunno not really feeling the lip thing. Like if the acura body kit was a lip kit I wouldn't have got it. I think its a good idea though and if it was color matched I'd might feel it :-P Nice idea though

I'd like to paint match it. Are there any stores that will rent a compressed spray paint gun? Also where do they sell auto paint to the public?

I know of Sherwin Williams but I'm not sure if they sell to the public.

If I can get these, then I can paint match. =)
