CU2 from Australia!
Hey guys.
We've had this since release in Australia over a year ago now, but i only got around to taking proper photos a few months ago and haven't got around to posting it on AcuraZine
Anyway, in Germany now so i definitely miss it. Its definitely awesome to see the occasional CU2 amongst all the BMW, Mercs and Audis here. Looks so hot next to the german rivals, i have to say
Just a stock standard Grigio (Volcano Grey as they call it in Aus) CU2 with Nav. Too bad us Australians miss out on all the cool stuff you guys get with your tech pack! Nothing cool like USB connection, real time weather/traffic, TPMS or that little fin that sits on the roof!

Thanks guys Completely forgot about this thread!
Anyway, since then i got a few little tidbit things done to it - aero body kit, lowered, mugen grill and some work gs1's.
Nothing performance wise, so i guess that must make me a ricer :p
Thinking about paint matching the silver around the mugen grill, what do you guys think about doing that? Ideally i would've liked to get an Acura Grill (and paint matched) and badge set, but i got a quote on the badge set and it was in the hundreds i think! Ouchies

Looks good ... the grille is a bit like the Euro version with that silver surround.
The back rims look wider than the fronts. What's the width/offset of those wheels and what tyre size??
What difference has changing the wheels made to the handling/ride?

Cheers guys Yeah the wheels surprised me too, i think the chunkiness and many spoke work well with the design of the car, better than i hoped for anyway
Headlight washers are soo overrated imo! I've never used them before and the only reason i used them on the CL9 was because they were linked to the windscreen washers. Lucky they have their own button to operate on the CU2 haha. You're not missing out on a thing, and they just muck up the car's lines haha :p. Too bad the law says that we need them for HIDs here otherwise i would've just told them to remove it when putting in the aero kit.
Ahh i chopped up my original grill, unfortunately
Yeah you're right, it is actually part of the original grill! You have to chop up the original grill and use the outer piece and insert the mugen piece inside it haha! Oh well its lucky i managed to get hold of another grill to chop up otherwise i don't know if i would've chopped up my one and only grill.
The wheels are actually the same size - 20x8.5 +57. In Australia you need to have the load rating on your new tyre be at least as high as the OEM tyre, so that meant i needed to find 20" tyres with a load rating of 98! Anyway, i was lucky enough that there is 1 such tyre in existence and it is 245/35/20.
Those low profile tires definitely made the ride a little bit harder and increased road noise (noticeable at 80kmph/50mph and higher), as can be expected. The slightly wider tires haven't really made a noticeable difference, but i'm no car expert. Oh well, the least wider tires do is make the car look better at the expense of comfort haha.
Overall the new ride is more to my liking since my CL9 had a pretty firm ride once it was lowered. The CU2 is pretty soft at stock and now i'm getting a little more feedback.

The back tyres look a little more stretched that the fronts, which is why I thought the rear rims were wider.
Are there any rubbing issues? Especially the back of the front tyres against the dampers?

I know everyone is aiming for a flush look but, IMO, you've got it just right. That size wheel & tyre works perfectly with the stock offset and the drop.

Nah no rubbing issues, i think it might have even handled 9.5 if i got ones with a lower offset, and i would get that hellaflush look too . but yeah, i guess i'm pretty happy with how it stands at the moment, maybe one of those duck tails on the rear and see if i can find myself an XM antenna to go on the top hehe

Nice car btw.

We dont get cool stuff like CMBS on our ones like in Europe though! Actually, we get stooged on bluetooth too because our bluetooth is mounted on the a-pillar and not steering wheel. Also don't get a USB port but i did option iPod connectivity, which is also kind of half arsed as we don't get artist/title display on the nav screen.
Hmm just tried mine again and yeah they seem to be separate even with the lights on. There's a button for the headlight washers just above the button to disable the parking sensors, which is a welcome addition haha!

I have that button too. I have noticed that they only work if the car is moving even if I use the button. Perhaps it's to prevent soaking people on the footpath when you are at a traffic light as they are quite violent.

The button to disable the parking sensor beeper prevented me from going crazy during a recent snowstorm. The sensors were covered up most of the time so they thought I was about to hit something for the entire journey

i've actually never tried the headlight washers more than once because i hate it as it sprays all over the bonnet! Had no idea you can't use it when stationary haha, thats pretty interesting, but using it while moving means all the cars behind and next to you get wet :p Awesome on motorways and when someone is tailgating you haha!
silvercu3: oooh weird. when i had my old bumper on and fitted with an acura car bra, the front sensors would automatically disable themselves so i didn't have to use the button and could still use my rear sensors! Maybe all that snow is thicker than the car bra though, i wouldn't know how snow impacts sensors though, we don't get snow in australia haha!

Use them 60mph and above so there will be no problem Mine will auto engage with first window wash after every car start then they stay off in next few window washes. If you dont want your lamps to be sprayed simply turn off headlights for a few secconds when spraying front window.

Your ride looks great, I was in Germany from 03 to 07 myself. I wish I was still there to get access to those Type S options. Wish we had the euro accord diesel here Its a beast! Enjoy some Schnitzel mit pommes Frites for me!!!!!

Hi mate, im from OZ too, you really have a nice ride, i just bought one myself and thinking of upgrading my wheels to 20". You mentioned that you have sourced 20" tyres with 98 v rating. Do you telling what brand of tyre you have now and how are they performing. I have seen one brand with the 99w rating AUSTYRE, not really sure if they are good so it may be a good idea to ask your opinion firts before actually pushing through with this upgrade. You may already know the reason why i ask (legality) Austarlian law!!!.
Thanks
