Bigman09TSX's progress thread

hey, ive been on here for a while posting randomly here and there, but i figured i should start one of these. ill be heading home from college in a little over a month and got some more plans for the car. so ill go in order from when i first got her to how she looks now. plans for the summer include plasti dipping the grill, emblems, window trim, and door handles to match wheels and tints, and megan n-1 racing mufflers

first mod, 35% tint up front and 20% in back

then got some interior blue leds in the footwells

here is from the day i picked up my rj legends in reflective silver, 19in running +32mm offset in back and +48 in front

........and bent one

next, smoked the taillights with lamin-x

some shots i took with my friends challenger

after a little over a year, replaced my RS legends with Satin black ones in the same size and offsets

and then did full interior LED conversion with white LEDs for map, dome, vanity mirrors, and license plate lights and blue for the doors (crappy phone pictures)

NICE!! Clean ride... like the satin better than the silver. I keep seeing these trim pieces that run along the side doors. They have been growing on me, I might look into getting some for my PWP. Just need to clear out those headlights and drop and you will be set!

body side molding? yea its not bad. seems to add some bulk to the car in a nice way.

VBP crew seems to be taking over hahaha, especially the tristate area

Clean ride, and good ideas for folowing mods. PlastiDip the grille windtrim and doorhandles will make your Satin wheels look even better!

I forgot to mention that I was planning on clearing the headlights, getting switchbacks, and smoking the turn signal area. Going for the blacked out dark look with the vbp, we will see how it turns out

When you clear your headlights are you going to black out the housing? Like most of the russian CU2's? Or are you going to smoke the turn signal with tinted film after you have cleared, because I have been curious to see what this would look like without the amber piece but still smoked. Either way itll look better when they are cleared out.

I might try blacking out the housing, but either way I am smoking the outside with either film or thin layer of plasti dip so that it is still transparent

i would love to, but i cant afford coils at the time being. i would go the springs route, but with the offset im running in back if i dropped on just springs i would rub. im going to be driving back to college in cali in august and dont feel like lowering before that. would feel alot more comfortable driving cross country not lowered. wehn i get back out there at that point i may look into getting my fenders rolled and lowering on springs

Hey Nice dude! im in the middle tho, cant decide which looked better, chrome or black.
Question, so the 48 Offset for front. makes the wheel just at fender or a hair inside and not sticking out?

48 in front makes it just at the fender and 32 in back makes it just at the fender, maybe even poke out a bit. i loved how the chrome looked but after a while i felt like it was to gaudy so i went with a dark look with the satin black

really? i may look into it more than. i talked to ron from rj wheels and he said with that offset dropping on just springs would most likely cause rubbing, but like i said i woould just roll the fenders. but either way im waiting till after i drive out to cali in august cuz i dont want to drive cross country lowered

it was cut perfectly, just have to trim a little off the end depending how much you stretch it to get it around the curves. didnt have to cut more than 1 or 2 mm at any one point. Just a PITA to install but definitely worth it. i would suggest taking the lights out to do it. i did the first one with the light in the car and the second one i took out. was definitely easier with the light out. much easier to manipulate the overlay

i got those also. had them on for 2 weeks. make sure you get all the moisture out from under them before turning the foglights on. i did not and it ended up heating up so much it burned the overlays and turned them brown in the middle

Wouldn't have thought of that happening to the covers. As long as they are completely dry before turning on the fogs, it should be good forever I would think. As long as the adhesive never allows any seepage of water over time. Thank you for letting me know.

The dip separates itself from the edges of the emblem when you peel it

I applied 4 coats. Waited 15 min in between each coat to let the previous one dry. Waited 20 min after final coat and then peeled away the excess. This was my first time working with plasti dip and it was a lot easier to do than I thought it would be

i'd love to see your car in person one of these days! I have a '12 VBP and I'm trying to decide if I want to get 30% tints all around or do a set up like yours
