Heye guys, visiting over from the RDX forum. Congrats on the new car!

I saw the new TSX in person at the dealer this week and the fugly new grille ain't so fugly in person. I'd even say it looks pretty aggressive. There is something off about it (not as nice as the MDX grille) but it's not as offensive as in photos.

I'm extremely jealous of the interior too. All the elements flow and a few of the key buttons that were placed awkwardly on the RDX have much better placement here.

Definitely true. When seeing the car in person, it looks A LOT better. Just the front, when compared to the G1, makes the G1 look "docile" in comparison.

Thanks guys. I originally went to pick up a killer deal on an 08. Once I got to the dealer and saw the new 09 and test drove it, there was no going back for me. It was more aggressive and modern to me. I'm all about progression and this this car is that in all areas. I'm happy with the purchase thus far. I see alot of people are down on the grill, but in person it is not bad at all, I like it, to each his own!

Not to be a web blanket, but we already have a Photo gallery section, and a 2GEN thread to post links.

Reading/searching before posting is a Good Thing.

I feel like these huge fender arches make the wheels look so small:

it looks like this car will need 19s to even tell a difference between sizes.

Do they let you drive off the lot without plates in CA? No front plate and a dealer plate for the back?

Thanks for the POSITIVE reply guys.
This site has some picky people I tell ya.

The car is a week old, no mods of any kind available yet. Relax.

I'm sure when you guys see the first couple 2nd Gen TSX's dropped with rims the negativity will stop.

HID super bright to me...with the usual purplish/blue glow.
I've filled up once so far, and put in 91. Wanna break her in proper.

Surprisingly yes. The dealer will attach the registration sticker on the windshield and the DMV will send you your plates in 4 to 6 weeks.

switchfootvz....Sorry you feel that way. There are many people who prefer the new TSX and other who have changed their mind after seeing/driving it so maybe it will grow on you. If not, sorry to see Acura has offended you with their new design, as they say, for every customer lost, you gain some along the way...I sure this will be the case also...

That's very true. It seems Acura is trying to go upstream a bit with this brand. Can't do it overnight, but the first step was to try and turn this "kid car" into something a bit more mature looking inside and out. Not quite there yet, but it's a start. As you said, as they move the brand off it's center, they will loose existing customers and pick up new ones. In fact, if Acura really did what they suggested recently (and go Tier 1 with unique vehicles with mutiple engine packages) the brand will no longer be a "value lux" brand and probably most of the people who own Acura's now will move on.

For what it's worth, I test drove the new TSX and think it's a ton better then the current one. I own an RL and MDX and I saw/felt a sibling relationship to those cars when I drove the new TSX. The old gen TSX felt like an economy car to me and felt totally out of place with the other 4 products on the showroom floor. Just one mans perspective. Don't flame me guys.

Actually, I think it's gone from refined and subdued to more eye-catching, "aggressive," and sporty looking. That's not a negative comment, just an appraisal.

I don't think the wheels and fenders should look mismatched as stock, requiring drops or 3rd party wheels to "look right." But this photos might be misleading due to light and quality. Not a slam, just keeping an open mind. The press kit pics looked ok to me.

I think we can all agree that Acura wanted a more aggressive and eye-catching car.

You can't forget where Acura came from though and who their customers are.

Think Integra.
Think RSX.
Think 1st gen TSX.

all of those customers have been abandoned.

those who don't like the new TSX feel Acura has short-changed them.
the 2nd gen. TSX is a sheep in wolves clothing.
they're upset because the performance was downgraded to go with the new
aggressive styling. Clearly aimed at those that just want to look more edgy, not
at those that actually like to drive and feel the road.

the car is bigger, heavier, with less HP, questionable styling, and questionable direction.

compare the new Acura commercials to the old Acura commercials.

Acura in the past was about driving fun and performance.
Acura now is about tricking people in with gadgets and "edgy" styling with nothing
to back it up.

we feel it's like a hollow promise that's not fulfilled.
we feel like we've been obviously pushed aside and left behind.
and therefore now we're bitter about it.

basically, the fun and performance was about Acura before and now they've passed the fun and performance onto Infiniti.

I agree with that assessment also.

By the way, don't translate my use of the word "mature" to mean "boring". An MB SLR looks very mature to me but yet it's far from boring looking.

Partially true but I think some would argue with you about that one (not necessarily me)

One thing is for certain, when gas hits $4 by the summer, those G cars getting 17/23 are not going to look like much fun.

I think the Acura TSX and Lexus IS 250 are going to look very interesting for those who want a good valued upscale vehicle for a daily commuter. Infiniti better hurry up and slot something below the G very quickly. I think they are being a bit short sighted

Forget summer, $4 prices are here already

<--- Filled $4 regular gas today

<--- Also hopes prices stay below $4.5 in the summer travelling season. Even with that premium will probaly inching closer to $5...

I agree, Infiniti bring out a G25 or resurrect the G20 just in a better looking bodystyle.

The only acura ive ever noticed on the road was the older TL's and the RLs, the TSX to me was always like a civic to me, im not too critical on how it drives but for the price the new TSX has all the bells and whistles of a new maxima(38gs?) and g35 (prob 40g hooked up). the new TSX comes in at around 32g which is a great price and its also a 4 cylinder with a good gas economy in these trying times. Its a common phase amongst people, when something they have is redone and newer and looks different people dont like it and thats just the way it is. I'm gonna wait till the end of june to see if the price drops a little, either way ill be picking one up and ill be sure to post plenty of pictures for you 1st gen owners.

tell me you're kidding.

please.

did you just say the TSX has all the bells and whistles of a G35?

no, you couldn't have... but I read again...

you did.

oh, that is a terrible lie. I should know, I own a new G35...

and let me tell you, the '09 can't even hold a candle to the G35 in bells and whistles.

not even close to close.

you made me laugh out loud though, good try...
