Single out exhaust mod

Hey guys I'm brainstorming about my future projects and I am highly considering getting a clean custom single out system put together similar to the j's racing single out they make for the cl9's. But one thing I would have to do is plug the left exhaust notch with something hopefully pre made (I hate doing fiberglass work). The only pic I could find was on a spirior. Thinking about contacting heeltoe or xlr8 to see if they can source it. I know it wouldn't be a usdm part but it can't be impossible to find. Has anybody tried???

Any thoughts about pluggin both cut outs and doing a center exhaust through the rear of the bumper with a rounded triangle opening? Seems to be the route most super cars are going....just a thought.

If this is what my thought process was I would be driving a veloster funny guy. I'm thinking there is not a lot of cu2 support for anything aftermarket cat back and the duals are really just for looks. My skunk2 header makes a hiss more than likely from going 3" to 2 1/4" at where the factory cat back meets the header and the factory exhaust has a crazy rasp now. I am simply thinking of options to remedy this and doing something that not too many people have done if any. Not because I think a single out mod to big ass titanium tipped n1 fireball style muffler with no resonator will give me 5 million horsepower. Taking as you had nothing educational to say I will thank you regardless of how nonsensical the post was just because I was simply able to reply to it. Just my thoughts 😉

I was very serious, thank you for recognizing that 808CU2. My post history should quell any fears Jaheri_cbp has. As for Jaheri_cbp you are off the Christmas list. I too had a similar rasp and hissing when I installed my RV6 Combo, and I since fixed that by adding a

Well then my sincerest apologies to u 2011 lol. I just really thought it was slightly more ridiculous of an idea than the single out mod which to some May even be ridiculous I guess. I do not wish to simply add a to my factory exhaust because the bottle necking issue will still exist and I eventually will be supercharged and don't wish to keep the 2 1/4" piping if I do decide to customize at all. I am either going full custom catback or leaving it stock. I'm not just going to add a

Honestly alot of these "tuned" full exhaust systems are to me the best way to go in fear of getting unwanted drones and noises. The top brands that produce these systems so far has made some nice sounding exhausts with pretty decent gains. I like the looks of these dual exhaust systems. This is just my humble opinion.

The thing is that we don't really have any options besides the fujitsubo or an ebay exhaust. The fujitsubo route takes me back more than 1400 dollars and I would take my chances on a custom setup with one or two high quality resonators and a nice muffler before I bought the ebay exhaust. If we had more aftermarket support besides super expensive or super crap I would def go that route.. But seeing as that the only high quality bolt on system for us is almost half the cost of the ct supercharger kit i dont see myself forking the cash for it

You will get this bumper part from post no.2 in Europe. Its from the CU1 with the 2.0l motor. The CU1 has single exhaust but the same bumper. I think somewhere in my garage is this bumper fill part in PWP. I have no part no. maybe you search at Honda Europe and look for CU1 parts.

I found the part #'s through lings honda parts (don't know why I didn't think of that smh). There are multiple part numbers due to it being a colored part. Hopes this makes life easier for anybody wanting to do something like single out their exhaust! I'm thinking about chopping up one of the greddy sp elite cat-backs for the i4 '08 accords and getting the res and muffler custom fit by my muffler shop (which has actually done that center exhaust mod on a ralliart lancer w/ quad tips lol ). This is just one idea running through my head but I figure that the resonator and the muffler on that system will be tuned for our motor.

It's number 7 on the link listed above. You can figure out which color you need by googling the finish numbers provided by the part number

So I have pulled the trigger on a small experiment for this single out exhaust modification. I saw on the forums that someone had installed the GREDDY cat back made for the 2008-12 accord 4 cyl on the other TSX forum but at this moment this exhaust is discontinued and to be replaced by a new cat back system to be release in June (along with one designed with two mufflers specifically for our cu2's). Since I'm not 100 percent sure a 600+ dollar system would bolt up without mods and that I really want to keep it single muffler, I figure I'd give it a shot with some China BOOBOO and if I'm wrong and it doesn't bolt up I'm not set back as much. I've heard mixed replies about exhaust bought on ebay and have heard a few bad and good ones in real life.. But for 250 bucks I thought I would give it a shot. This is exhaust is made by obx and a complete knockoff looks wise of the greddy sp elite exhaust. I receive the exhaust on wed and will have it on soon after. I will post sound clips after installing and if there was any difficulty during install.

Look at this on eBay:

You and me both!!! Lol if it does sound decent I'm buying the plug from lings and ROCKING! At least until I burn all the fiberglass out and it starts sounding ehhgs.. Then I'll just order the greddy like I should have a while ago..

That's great and all, but the real test would be when you actually decide to supercharge the whip IMO. Since it's eBay, I suspect the thing to catch fire and/or fall off, whichever comes first

Kudos for pioneering something for the single out guys nonetheless. And who knows the exhaust could be decent. We can think of it as a risky but low initial cost investment.

I actually like the dual exhaust look though. Is the purpose of making it single exhaust so it sounds better?

At Xtc... My sentiments exactly. I'm thinking I might return the exhaust and just wait for the greddy but I know as soon as that box comes I will be ripping the box open for a look. Sometimes you just gotta say fuck it.. I've lost more on a poker table (also won more).

At rawger... Part is for sound because I'm thinking some of the resonance in our exhaust comes from the y split in the exhaust.. Also just that reduction in piping size at the split isn't too appealing. I'm betting this exhaust will weigh a lot less than the factory unit as well.. Plus I have the skunk 2 header so I want to see how a less dramatic drop in piping size works out..

She will be boosted sooner or later fellas.. I'm a patient man who loves his car and doesn't plan on selling til she falls apart. But the mods must commence!!

I've been single exhaust since fall of last year.

It's not that big a deal... The dual exhaust on the OEM is ridiculous and embarrassing.

You mentioned having the right tools to do the work in another thread, and I completely agree. What tools did you use to get your factory catback off? Were your bolts rusted to death? Thanks!

In for the sound clip!

Just finished bolting it up along with my sway bar that was chilling soooo long.. Everything bolted up pretty well.. There was even an extra exhaust hanger mount point not utilized with our factory exhaust that falls perfectly with one of the hangers for the obx single haha! The hangers need slight adjusting for perfect fitment but overall pretty stoked!! To answer your question about tools needed, all that's needed is a set of metric wrenches (my ratchet wrenches came super handy), some lithium grease to loosen up the rubber hangers, a good jack and some jack stands. Since I live in Florida and the car is not too old it didn't even need pb blaster or any penetrating liquid to loosen the bolts but you may since living up north involves extra salty slush winter roads. As far as sound goes, WOW a difference! And NO MORE RASP! As far as I can tell. Did it all by myself and the lady is sleeping already so I have nobody to rev it while I listen outside. Videos and pics coming SOON!

That's great!

And yeah winters here are brutal. I washed the car a week ago and within a day it already started looking dirty/salty again. I need to tackle the bolts holding the OEM RSB and OEM camber/toe arms when summer hits... but I'm worried I'll strip a bolt

Can't wait to hear this thing! Hope it holds up well.

So the OBX quality is pretty decent?

I've been thinking about getting a header and maybe exhaust from them for my subaru, while I bide my time and get everything lined up for sti motor and transmission swap.

You definitely get more bang for your buck that's for sure. Dudes on nasioc rave about the obx exhaust for the wrx, but you could practically throw a coffee can on for exhaust and those h motors sound amazing lol. What scoobie do you have, gc8 1.8 liter, 2.5rs??

Nice. And ew @ the provided gaskets. Look like playdoh. Maybe that exhaust hanger is meant for V6? I have no idea just threw that out there lol

Congrats man. You source a bumper plug yet? Or is the plug only for the SE rear bumper?

2.5 RS, but am in talks with a few shops, I want to drop an STi Drivetrain into my bugeye. Just trying to get everything lined up to minimize the downtime. I don't want to drive the acura to the airport anymore than necessary.

The OBX stuff doesn't look bad at all. The welds and all seem reasonable.

I am interested to see how it holds up, please keep me/us updated.

Thanks dude. Nah that exhaust mount point I'm assuming is for the single exhaust cu1's back in Europe cuz it worked perfectly for my new exhaust.. And as far as the plug goes the link to get it is in this thread and I will be getting it very soon!

Nah that's not an SE bumper, I forgot abotu the pic at the top of your thread

That bumper is the same as our base bumper. You should be good if you get that one! For some reason I thought the CU1s always came with a plugged SE rear. My bad if I freaked you out! haha

Well it seems the one I found on lings is for the se bumper grrrr... The one in the first post pic is the one I want but I don't read mandarin and it's very hard to find anything in English on that car. Is there anybody on the forums that has a chinese or overseas part connect?? I think that's what it's gonna take for me. Not too many peeps have done this yet obviously lol

Update on the exhaust..
So the mid pipe of the catback seemed to be pushing on the muffler portion too much which was causing the muffler to sit shifted right and pushed further out passed the bumper. I felt uncomfortable without it being perfect fit and centered so I took a trip to the muffler shop and had them shorten my mid pipe about an inch for 20 bucks and ten minutes. the muffler sits like factory now More pics and vids soon to come.

Sounds better than before. Sounds kinda high pitched when you rev hard and let off the gas @ 53 seconds, curious how it sounds inside. Personally, I like how the car sounds with a resonator delete. If an exhaust built onto that sound, I'd be game.

A resonator delete will cause you to hate your exhaust stock or not. The resonator is there to help cancel out annoying sounds and frequencies from being carried through the exhaust and the cars cabin (hence why most resonators are placed under the cabin on factory exhaust). The resonator on the obx unit was just as long as the factory unit's and my even be a little larger in diameter. It sits exactly where the stock one sat and seems to be doing its job really well because the annoying rasp is gone. Dont remove just replace.

Rear section of exhaust being pushed back too much caused the piping to touch the plastic liner under the gas tank and melt it slightly

Exhaust hanger above forced outward not laying perfect

Right were you see the old puerto rican with the torch pointed is where he cut out an inch of the mid pipe right by the rear flange

All square!!!
