Performance Clutch

Performance Clutch
I know that is really early but has anyone seen a performance clutch for our cars yet? I looked at ACT and Excedy but they do not list anything. I was pushing CT-Engineering but they said the old model did not sell well and was not going to make one.

I've had good luck with the ACT stuff. I've had the HD SS (Heavy Duty plate, Street/Strip disc) hold up for most boosted applications except for a 10psi aftercooled Vortech 2000 Civic Si that was flogged daily for about two years before it gave up. After that we ran an XT (Xtreme plate) SS disc and it held up, but suuuucked in traffic.
Dunno when ACT will have one, are you trying to get one in with the blower so you don't have to later?

Yeah, I should be getting my car back in the next 30 days. I don't know how long the factory clutch will hold up. I also have used ACT products on my old Prelude, it was great. That is what I would like to get.

ACT was good with B-series stuff (aka the 2000 Si, Integra, etc). But they have a really bad rap for their K-series stuff. Tons of problems with the pressure plates failing, the discs glazing, etc... There's a million threads on c l u b r s x dot com about it. I'd steer clear of ACT for this car. Look into Competition Clutch, that's what all the RSX guys swear by.
Generally all clutches mount the same across series of engine for Honda, so I'd imagine that if you got a k-series clutch of a high enough "stage" it would just -work-, regardless of the car it is advertised for.

That's too bad to hear that about ACT, I've tried so many clutch companies over the years and, man, it can be a miserable learning process. I remember Clutch Masters (clutch ba$tards) and RPS (POS), etc.

Here you go, Exedy makes a lightweight flywheel and its listed to work with the following cars:
02-04 RSX Type-S
05-06 RSX Type-S
02-04 RSX: 5-Speed
05-06 RSX: 5-Speed
02-03 Civic Si
04-05 Civic Si
06-present Civic Si
Acura TSX: 04-present
I'd post a link to the item for sale, but its on a site that this forum doesn't allow link posting from.
So, if you get a flywheel and clutch combo. You're safe.
And from what I'm reading, if you want to get a clutch without a lightened flywheel combo, you just need to pick up a stock RSX Type-S flywheel and it'll bolt right up.

I hear ya, those are all K 20's & 24s, but I don't take anything for granted. How would one know if the spline count on an 04-08 would be the same as on 09?
On an application like that, 2004-present reads *to me* that they haven't updated their catalog to include the 09 model.

Yeah I looked up part numbers, and the main shaft/flywheel/clutch are all different from '08 to '09, but that doesn't necessarily mean the spline count is different. Guess someone needs to get those counted.

haha, I don't need a clutch, mine is brand new and I like it.
The flywheel is an important part of the equation. The TSX flywheel is different from the RSX one. If you want to use an RSX clutch, you mount an RSX flywheel to the TSX. The other reason the part numbers are different has to do with them putting a stronger clutch in the TSX to handle its MONSTER TORQUE YO!

I think that I will wait for someone to make one. I do not want to pull my trans only to find out that it won't work. I will doing some track days this summer is why I would like one so soon. Lets hope the factory one will last.

I'm guessing you'll be running the stock pulley on the CTSS, right? Isn't the new programming supposed to be able to compensate for a pulley change without a re-flash or are they still working on that?
**Proper break-in**, stock boost, non-aftercooled...I'm guessing 5.5-7psi base boost...depending on your driving style, you'll probably be ok for a year or *maybe* two.

I will be running the stock pulley for now. They are still working are the new program for the ecu they should be done with it next week. I don't know if it will even apply to the TSX, right know it is just for the Civic SI.

Lol I might need one soon too lolololol .. 33k miles and my shit squeaks when I shift about 6k rpms.. go me right? Thats what I get for beating the shit out my car for 8 or 9 months going 60 - 130 back and forth in traffic every day lololol.. Na I don't even know if its the clutch but now one can give me an answer so I'm assuming it is. I wouldn't be against a new clutch lets find some company and get them to give us a group buy! hahaha sponsors ftw?

Is yours starting to slip or are you just trying to prepare for when it does, lol?
I'd call ACT to see if they're working on anything. An HDSS would hold plenty, I'd think. I'd hate to drive this car with an XTSS.
