K&N Drop In Filter

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to share my experience with the drop in K&N filter for the 2nd gen TSX. I can't tell if there is any performance difference, but if any, I feel a bit more punch in 3rd gear (probably all in my head to justify the purchase). In terms of sound, the intake sounds deeper in 3rd and 4th gear around 3500 RPM. Can't tell the difference at all in 1st and 2nd gear.

cool. I ordered mine last week but it's back-ordered. I just like the fact that they're re-usable. Any performance gain is just icing on the cake for me.

K&N makes very solid replacements for the OEM filter for a wide range of cars. Very reliable and many claim to feel positive changes (power, throttle response, sound) though again there is not really any hard evidence.

On my previous cars the most I've ever experienced is slightly better throttle response.

OEM might filter better but there's always going to be a trade-off between higher air flow and better filtration.

This.

I used to use them all the time, but I got tired of cleaning, waiting for it to dry, re-oiling, etc.

I thought our spark plugs were good for 110,000 miles.

K&N Drop-in filter impression

Ok so my order finally arrived and I installed this one yesterday.

First of all, I love how Honda has done away with screws for the stock airbox. The retaining clips they use now on our cars are much easier to work with. Probably the fastest/easiest air filter change I've done.

Although K&N says on their website that the drop-in filter increases hp and torque for the TSX, you'd have to try really hard to notice it. There's practically no difference in sound either, but I wasn't expecting either of those things so I'm still happy with my purchase.

Again, I think re-usable filters are a no-brainer purchase since they pay for themselves over time.

Maybe I'm just sub-consciously wanting to hear some difference to justify the purchase. Is your TSX Auto or Standard?

Mine's auto. I see you have a 6spd so maybe you'll have a better chance to hear any differences in the higher rev ranges. In everyday driving though it's pretty much stock sound with the auto.

I'm also watching the MID to see if there's any change in mpg or in our case L/100km's

i can make a foto with the sticker i found in k&n box that tells us the warranty wont affect, after 5 post and 15 days il be back with that, well i should start with:

"Hi, I'am new and far away form you all"

but i skiped that part because i have this filter purchased form USA and shiped to my Country "Romania" ...

I am a bit dissapointed because at first sight the K&N filter is a bit bigger then the stock filter.

[Yea, once again i should tell you that i have a 2.0L I-VTEC Honda Accord manufactured in Japan that is almoast same with Acura TSX, the only difference is the engine witch is smaller and the price is in EURO around 28 000 dollars.]

So, I asked the dealer about that and they all looked at me like donkey and told me it is not a problem because they fit!

Still after 3 months i can tell you all that i hear a sound from admision, its a good one i feel somehow a better swiftness in pedal and of course a bit of fuel economy. But the summer has arived and changed to 18" aloy and 225/45 R18 vredestein ultrac sessanta tires so no more eco just a better look and driving.

i apologize for my english i know is bad and google doesent help me at all

till later...

all best
