the 4 is slow!!!!!!!!!

the six should be putting down about 230hp to the front wheels.

I thinks it's the weight problem..
2009&up are too heavy I guess..
did you ever run with previous generation TSX?

^i'm not understanding your question.

the previous gen TSX would still be slow with the I4.
granted 230 to the wheels isnt very quick either.

do you have the 6 cylinder?

I have an 06 TL 6MT.

04-06 6MT TL and TL-S auto and V6 TSX all put down about the same HP. about 230 to the front wheels.
the 6MT TL-S is way moar power ful.

weight also comes into play, the TL is about 3500+lbs.
if the TSX weighs more than 3500 that would be why you lost to the TL-S.

Because I am a six speed manual. I weigh less, and the power isnt lost through the automatic transmission.

the Auto TL-S and the base TL 6MT both put down about 230HP.
Since, your engine is the same from the TL-S, I can only assume that you're putting down 230 to the front wheels.
and what you said confirms this, as you said a TL-S beat you. assuming that the TL-S either was a 6MT or had mods. or was lighter than you.

I see.. thanks for your info.
maybe I should try to run with TL-s again if I have chance..
and I didn't use the paddle shift as well..
but it is true that my car is heavier than TL-s..
I think you are right.. but I'll try it again..lol

Did you engage TRANS AM?

As for the speed wouldn't it also depend on the wear/condition of the car as a whole?

I'll make the assumption that my TSX goes as fast as it can til the speed limiter kicks in

Yeah I-4 even with the 6 speed = slow as hell. I think most of us on these boards are the same though. No matter how much HP you got you still want more.

280 horsepower engine, 230 hits the ground. Gotta factor in parasitic drivetrain loss, etc

230 is the real world number you are getting out of the car

Our tsx i4 probably gets 170~ real world HP

Correct, the V6 TSX has 280hp to the crank.
but after drive train losses, its a bout 230 to the front wheels.

there are multiple dyno's that show the 3.5L engine in an auto TL-S making ABOUT 230whp.

IMO you don't buy a tsx for speed, you buy it for looks. If you wanted speed you can buy a used vette, used elise, new speed 3, wrx, or other various things that are considerably quicker than a tsx.

I'd love if there were more performance mods available for the v6. However, I do have my intake ordered for my lovely 1hp gain haha.

I've been trying to tell ya'll that most of the TL's mods can be ported over to the 2nd GEN TSX as we share the same engine....

I had a 6spd 05 TSX K24 with bolt-ons / Hondata and that car was pretty fast. It ran mid 14 sec 1/4m @ 96 mph times but the power was high in the rpm band. My new V6 with minor mods is very fast for only 239 dyno hp. The V6 has so much low end torque it blasts off the line thats if you can get traction. It runs low 14 sec 1/4m @ 100 mph with the TCS off. I give many cars out there with more hp problems. I have already raced and beat a TL-S auto and S2000. Its all in the driver.

^not really all 280.

I just looked up the specs, and you guys are 100 pounds heavier than a base 04-06 TL.
in the grand scheme of things both of us are not really that fast, but can beat up on most other cars out there.

14 sec 1/4 mile is not fast, at all, lol. I guess it's all relative

It's definitely all relative.
My truck (with a custom tune) is quick for what it is. It'll light the tires from a dead stop, but by no means is it "fast".
Coming down from that to the TSX and the CU2 feels like a rocket. It's quicker to 60 than the truck, but the CU2 will have its doors blown off by say a 335i.
For my wife's needs the CU2 is plenty quick. Especially since she came up from a 13yo Civic.

I know you were looking for actual time measurements, so I may be a little off topic.
Happy Friday!

OK, fixed.

HD, assuming you don't have a V6, even then, doubt it.

The 4cycl has been good enough for me. getting on the high way without cutting off traffic is something to cheer about. I havent get a chance to test its limit yet.
