CT/E Ice Box or CAI?

Ok, here's the story.. I removed and gutted the resonator from the factory air box and that it's super annoyingly loud when I get on it. Sometimes you can feel the vibration generated from the excess ricey bass from the air box that it's driving me nuts. I really regret removing it and I have NO interest in removing the bumper and putting a new resonator back in place. So here's my question.. Is the CT/E ice box or a CAI any better? I don't mind a bit of noise from the intake as long as there are no cabin vibrations or excessive noise.

i think ct ice box is where the sweet spot is. i have a CAI and i love the sound, much better than the SRI whcih is so damn loud. i think mroto or tech can chime in since they both have icebox

The IceBox is not loud at all, not compared to the other CAI's out there, or the resonator removal. It sounds almost like stock, but I'd say magnified by 20%. Removing the resonator just produces an obnoxious sound at WOT, it's a bunch of unneeded noise. And IMHO, most of the intakes out there just produce a sound that doesn't fit this car, it gets old fast.

Speaking of old - I'm old at 36... and I can't stand loud, but I do want to hear the engine growling a bit. The IceBox is absolutely perfect for my tastes, and I think it fits the car. Most will complain about the price at about $400, but I'd rather pay a few extra bucks and be 100% satisfied. Give Rob a call at Acura of Lynnwood - awesome service.

The icebox is crazy expensive. If they made it out of the plastic they used on ones from the integra, I'm sure they could cut costs. Integra/civic ones go for $175.

Agreed with tobey457, the CTE Icebox is just right for me. I had a SRI in my previously ride (Civic Si), it would be too loud for the TSX.

The Icebox looks great and sounds even better above 4K, but the best part is neither my wife nor clients can tell I have that under the hood unless I go WOT, another bonus is being able to use HFL bluetooth without anyone complaining about background noise.

Icebox is expensive, $469 from CTE, but I got mine from Rob at Acura of Lynnwood for under $400.

Good lick.

the I4 is really that loud without the resonator? when I took mine off my v6, I hardly noticed a change. I kind of think that the difference is just in my head because I read so many others saying it sounded better. I dont really see the point of an SRI or CAI in my situation because its not super loud and already sounds pretty "refined" as it is. Any other v6's think think this too?

V6s are quieter as I did this same mod on my V6 accord. The I4 is a totally different animal. I was more than shocked at the how ricey loud it was... Just placed an order for the CT-E ice box with Rob at Lynnwood.

the i4 is pretty damn loud when you hit above 3500 RPM. its easy to keep it sounding stock though. i know from having driven next to cops. but im 18, with friends who have a C63, TL type S, skyon, and the like. so being able to rev my engine to sound that loud is satisfying. but im 18 and a douchebag my sister doesn't enjoy the sound quite as much while driving hahaha

When I play back in my head the purr of the car at WOT, I get warm and satisfying feelings inside.

The CAI is definitely going to be louder than the CT-E Iebox. However, keep in mind the filter is in the bumper so it won't be that aggressive or I should say not as aggressive as a short ram intake would be.
