Cold Air Intake?

Hello everyone,

First post to the forum, excited to join. Anyways, going through the process of looking at adding a DC Sports cold air intake to my '10 TSX V6.

After installation of the cold air intake do I need to do anything else? Computer wise, etc. to ensure I am getting the most from the intake?

Thanks!

the computer automatically adjusts air/fuel ratio.

butt; if you want to, you can disconnect the battery's negative terminal for a few secs to reset the ECU.

Great, thank you! Do you know of any other air intakes besides the DC Sports one? Can't find any others for my model.

not to be a debbie downer; the v6 TSX's stock OEM cold air intake system is pretty well engineered.

an aftermarket cold air intake system wont provide much HP over the stock system.

however; if you must get one, go for the cold air intake and not a short ram intake.

I have a TL with the same exact engine as your car, so I dont know what brands will fit yours, all I know is that we share the same exact engine.

on the TL side; we've noticed that the stock system outflows the stock throttle body at WOT.(wide open throttle)

what this means is that adding an intake wont do much unless you widen the throttle body's diameter.

we've been taking the '09-'14 TL's 3.7l throttle body which is wider!!
then we finish it off with a 4 inch diameter all around intake, like the airaid diy kit.

heck I can definitely think of better ways to spend $200 if there really is not much of an improvement. May just look for cleanable air filters then....not a big fan of K&N oil based ones. Know of any others?

^ ugh.

That's a whole other divided topic. There are a lot of folks (me included) that dislike oiled filters because of AFM fouling from the oil.

Unfortunately, the oiled element is what is doing the work of filtering the air so it's a tough trade. I don't know of any good alternatives, but that's also because I gave up pursing that path many years ago.

Paper filters for lyfe, yo!

If you're going to go aftermarket, a Cold Air Intake is definitely the way to go! We have the DC Sports intake available for $196 not including shipping.

Just installed the black Injen CAI on my 2010 2.4L TSX and it feels & sounds like a new engine. In love w it. Also took off the plastic stock intake crap underneath the battery terminal to the left of the intake funnel. Saw that as a mod w/o adding a CAI and just taking out air box resonator. It's a whole new car. Sounds & drives like a car that has balls w the looks

FWIW I bought a CT engineering intake back in 2013 that I never got around to installing because I'm lazy. Never felt like it needed it though.
