CAI on 2010 TSX and rain

Hi all,

I gather that a CAI on my 2010 TSX will extend down into my driver side wheel well; if this is in fact correct, how will this react to rain/puddles/snow? I live in Seattle, and go into the mountains for hiking and snowboarding often. Do I run a high risk of getting water into the engine with a CAI? Is a short ram recommended given this?

Further, I see tons of recommendations on the CAIs to use: injen, ct icebox and others. Can someone point me quickly to a good comparison of them? I'm looking for some cross between a little more responsiveness, and better gas efficiency.

Thanks in advance!
RA

Just get a SRI then so there won't be any issue(s) that could arise. For the most part they are all the same just more or less depends on how much you want to spend or how you want it to look like.

Be careful sometimes puddles are impossible to avoid and its just not worth it. I hydrolocked because I picked the smaller of 2 puddles and it didnt matter still had to go through alot to get her running again. Get an icebox its the best of both worlds. If they made one for the veesix I woud be all over that!

This is my concern, living in WA and going into the mountains for snowboarding often. I think I'll opt for an SRI.

What SRI will be best? Are they all about the same?

Thanks!

Further, I see the icebox removes the resonator. I assume installation means removing the bumper from my car to remove everything OEM, and placing the new one in?

Further, how does the Icebox compare to SRI? My friend is saying that the SRI will do better as there is no enclosed box to gather heat? Further, the Icebox will just be quieter, correct?

http://www.heeltoeauto.com/tech-arti...acura-tsx.html although not our exact car the icebox is considered to be one of the best intake set ups you can get besides a cai. Comptech actually engineers it not just a filter on an aluminum tube like most SRI's and yes u will need to remove the front clip. If its ur first time count on a day of work it took me 7 hours my first time with a CAI install

The box won't suffer from heat soak like the metal tubing on your SRI will. Also, your SRI is sucking in heated air. Another negative. The CAI can be a good choice but it just depends on how much you want to prepare for your travels that day if it is raining. I got the Icebox for all the listed reasons and I've quite literally driven through lake-sized puddles and I know damn well the port was underwater a few times and I've never hydrolocked. So the Icebox really is the best of both worlds and well worth the money in my opinion.

I have had CAIs (all AEM Dryflows) on 3 different vehicles over 9 years. Live in Minnesota where it rains and snows (sometimes, a lot!) I have never had a problem and short of driving into one of our 15,000+ lakes, I won't...

I can't speak to the Icebox, though, all my experience has been with AEM CAIs. Also for what it is worth, I have never had to remove the bumper to install one.
