Upgrade front factory speakers, on FACTORY amp...

Hey folks.

Buddy of mine has a 09 TSX /tech with the ELS system...

He wants to replace his front speakers as some how his front passenger side speaker is blown and he's out of warranty.

He's not a big audio guy and likes the factory system just fine.

To fix the situation (and wouldn't mind an in-expensive upgrade at the same time) - what specs in a set of component speakers should we look for that will work well with the factory amp?

Again, just the speakers, no amp additions/changes...

What does the factory system put out? and what should we look for in terms of specs on a new set of components? Looking for a quick plug and play solution.

Did a quick search didn't find anything specific to my question but will continue to search....

Newer MB Quart speakers are terrible. Seriously. I would stick with Diamond Audio or Focal. 40-80 watt rms should do the job fine. i believe the stock amp is rated at 2 ohms. not sure what the wattage is on it.

MB Quart bad? really? I've always heard amazing things about em'

I'm not sure I ever got the 2ohm vs 4ohm stuff...

Since the factory amp is 2ohm (if this is correct) does that mean I shouldn't find a 4ohm speaker?

Newer MBQs suck. Different management and goals than their hayday when they actually cared. Regardless, it is still just my opinion

4ohm speakers will operate just fine. Others have had a lot of success though it isnt giaranteed if you dont go with a new amp. If you arent too sure of the component speakermarket i'd keep the price low just in case.
