TSX TECH-problem is the voice coils.
I sent the service manager of Lynwood Acura a message concerning the problem with the speakers in the TSX Tech.
Here is what he had to say:
What's up Lou! Sorry for the delay with my response but I'm actually still trying to gather more information for you. I've contacted engineering regarding this issue and I'm waiting to get a call back from a manager. There is a service bulletin regarding this issue which has been an on going known problem with your style TSX within Acura division (which means Acura is aware and trying to fix the issue with a permanant fix.) The bulletin says that the cause is damage to the voice coils likely caused during manufacturing.
Here's some insight from my experience. At this point I would guess that engineering is working on a product update for replacing the speakers. That's actually the information that I'm trying to get from an Engineering manager now. However even if a product update is in the works, it will likely not act as a recall when it's released. American Honda will usually only put out recalls for safety items. Otherwise they will launch a product update within the dealers saying that if a customer comes in with this specific problem replace the failed component with this updated part. As of now, there are no updated speakers or parts to fix this problem. It usually takes about 2 to 3 years before updates are released.
I can let you know when that happens and get you taken care of. Until then if one blows, it's the same part number or component thats being used to replace the failed one.

I had 3 door speakers replaced. Perhaps I'm jaded at this point, but although the speakers don't sound blown anymore the system just doesn't seem all that great to me.
Blew out 3 speakers got tired of the dealer so i swaped mine out to 6.5 infinity 6022si
Here are some quick pics the sound is night and day difference.

Depending on your speaker you will need a ¾ or 1 inch spacer for the new speakers. You have to make sure that the magnet does not hit the window when it is rolled down. I plan to put a DIY together as soon as a get a rain free weekend. I took the door apart and made my spacers already I just have to work on the tweeter mount.
I have had no issues with my 09 ELS speakers blowing and I play it loud all the time. I’m upgrading the speakers for sound improvement.

Did you think about removing the factory sub and porting the 12's through that hole? I am curious how that would sound
i did the same & did you use the the plug as well? but i notice when i had the unit set up on surround sound or els and full blast speakers sound like stock but without that distortion , when i have it set up on stereo the sound is much better.

Normally one wire has a line on it, make that one either positive or negitive, and keep it that way for all speakers.
(There a red and a green in the rear doors make red + and green -) and make both rears exactly the same.
In any case they said they replaced the rear passenger door speaker but on my way to the Ferry I noticed the speaker still sounded like crap. I don't know if they just didn't do it, which I doubt, or if by coincidence it blew again on the way to the Ferry.
I haven't taken it to Honda to have them replace it yet but will probably do it in the next week or so. At the end of the day I will probably just replace the door speakers with aftermarket ones like other people are doing.
I just don't think Acura is taking this seriously. It's ridiculous. This will definitely be the last time I purchase anything from Honda/Acura.
Toyota is having a red tag sale. 0% financing for up to 60 months on select vehicles. A friend of ours is interested in my car so maybe I will unload it and get a new Tacoma.
Who knows. I will most likely transfer everything over the the white car and be done with it all.
i did do that, i was being lazy on checking polarities on the speaker outputs. ill take a look at the wires one more time. But i definitely sounds really good, i did the same i used
infinity kappa in the front and premier in the back so now i can crank all the bass on and sounds good no more rattling voice coils.

Gremlins in our speakers.
My rear passenger speaker has been sounding like crap for the past week. Today I got in the car and it sounds fine.
Now I'm really confused....
Any insight from anyone?

Yes you can,
I’m replacing the fronts with 61/2 inch components. I have ordered new sail panels (tweeter mounts) so that I can modify them to fit my new tweeters. I need to find a location for the crossovers, if I mount them in the doors it makes it easy to run the wires, but I don’t like to do that. I already made the spacers for the doors and rear deck; just need a nice interruption free day to take the door apart. I will post photos and instructions on how to do this. I had to stop today to fix the latch on the Subaru and then my son had an issue with his car. Good thing I didn’t take my door apart today.
For the rear deck and rear doors go with a 61/2 inch coaxial and for the front components. For the front you can use the factory tweeter if you want and just install the woofer, or install the complete system. Another option if you want to save a few $ is to use a coaxial for the front and disconnect the tweeter (on the coaxial).
The speaker wire adapters are available I just don’t recall the part #. It is the same one used on the 1st gen TSX.

This may seem like a noob question but how can you determine which speaker is the culprit? I ask because i just had the driver front side speaker replaced, however i was not sure if that was it, it seemed to go away after a few weeks its back and i'm not sure if its the speaker that got replaced or another speaker?

Play it low and put your ear up to each speaker. The bad ones will quack like a duck.
