trunk remote opener w/ lift shocks

not sure if im posting in the right section, but has anyone thought of adding to the rear trunk lid the lift support shocks? is it possible?

i love the pop trunk option but i would love it more if i pop the truck when my hands are full and the truck lid also went up.

let me know what you guys think and if there are any products out there like that thanks!

and if im posting in the wrong area ill change it.

I think about it often. Does the TL trunk open when popped? I know the new RDX has shocks but they are definitely too long for a TSX.

Just change out the springs to the spoiler or decklid ones. A member on here did that and it made a huge difference.

yea thats the best thing to do. install the springs that come with the spoiler, its heavier than the decklid therefore they use 2 springs vs the 1 for the decklid i believe

Last page covers installation of the spring. You need a special tool but Hondo DIY'ed a ghetto version of it I think lol

Here's the video of it compared to stock spring

Those are the stock springs. I tried looking at the accessories on Acura website but they didn't list out the parts :\

that video shows 1 spring installed i believe, thats what is done for the decklid spoiler. the wing spoiler gets 2 springs done, so without a spoiler im sure that would pull it to the max

Sorry, I'm new at this. If you enter that part number at Acura.bernardiparts.com it will take you to the spring set. I looked under accesories for 2011 tsx and found the wing spoiler and these are the springs shown in the diagram. I called bernardiparts this morning to confirm these are the stronger springs and not the stock ones. I'll order them and post a video with the result if I can figure out how to do that.

The spring came last night and I tried to put them in my self. If you pull out just one clip on each side you can get the old springs out with the back of a hammer. Make sure you prop the trunk open securely, its very heavy when the springs are out. You need to use a small hammer and when putting them back in the handle gets in the way so its not the best tool to use. After 30 min and a sliced finger I was able to get the right spring in. The left one was just to hard with the hammer.I gave up after an hour. I would save yourselves the trouble and have the dealer do it if you dont have a better tool. I know one of the service advisors pretty well so he did it for $20.

The wing spoiler has 2 springs and I paid 55 plus shipping from bernardi. acurapartsworld has free shipping. The trunk opens completely and hits the stops but not too hard.

The 1 spring for the decklid spoiler is only about $12 but only opens about half way like the video above. This is probably the better option and i would have order just 1 spring if I had seen the price before i order the 2

Thx for the Vid. I wanted to buy the 2nd spring in a few weeks, now I know I dont need it. Its to much how it opens with the 2nd spring. I would hate it when it almost crashes to the rear window. I dont think its good for the springs. I have to open my trunk twice a day.
Do you have the Part No. from Bernardi or Acurapartsworld, they seem to be much cheaper than in Germany. I paid for the one I have about 35€, thats almost 50$!

And here is a Pic of my Tool, easy job!
