If you live in the Bay Area or SF

I am selling 2 12's Rockford subwoofers with box. Asking price is only $235. Bought a couple of months ago. I am currently driving an 09 tsx. It looks cherry. Email me if you're interested. Inflames2012 at yahoo dot com

I kinda wanted to try removing the stock sub and fitting in an aftermarket one. Would this be possible? Do people even do that? I've never done any research in this area before lol

The stock sub is approximately an 8" sub, and the speakers are also approximately 6.5" speakers. The speakers are actually the same ones in the US Accord w/ 7 speaker setup (TSX just uses a different amplifier).

I bought a JBL GTO804 8" sub to replace the stock sub (low watt req, and high efficiency) and also bought some Pioneer Premier TS-A632P 6.5" speakers (low watt req, and high efficiency also) to fit in the doors. Tweeters to be left stock.

Unfortunately, I'm probably going to buy the Tech package now and won't be replacing those speakers lol. So if you want I can sell you the speakers for $150 shipped, they're brand new in box still. This is what I get for "buying stuff ahead of time" and later changing my mind.

I did research in this area and figured out that these speakers would probably work very well, and the sub has worked much better for others on other forums with different cars. It's worth a try IMO, especially for the low price. These aren't super-fancy or expensive speakers, but then again if you were going that route you also wouldn't be using the stock amp.

From the Accord forum, it looks like you might have to bend or cut a little bit of the rear shelf sheetmetal to be able to fit the basket of the aftermarket sub. You'd also need some plastic adapters to mount the speakers to the door (if you want to make it look somewhat decent). I think it'd work though....which is why I bought the speakers in the first place.

Ive done audio installs before but it has always been with aftermarket head units. I have a Rockford Fosgate P3 and T300 amplifier that i took out of my 350z. I just got a 09 Tsx tech and i want to put the system in. But i dont really want to pay someone. I just dont know how to get the signal..Do i just tap into the stock subwoofer?

I wouldn't sell your speakers if I were you. I've got a Tech as well and will be replacing all my speakers at some point. The speakers Acura uses in these cars are garbage IMO. My 97 Honda Prelude had better sound.

If you just want to replace the stock sub with an amplified unit then all you have to do is connect your amp to the existing sub wires via a LOC or your amps speaker level inputs. I would remove the stock sub if you are running something big in the trunk.

I just got my tech and I have to say that the sound system is better then the 1st gen TSX but still can be improved. In a few weeks I’m going to start the mods, new components up front and a replacement for the factory amp. I’m not sure about the sub since I really do not like Boom, and it might be hard to find an aftermarket to work in the factory slot (free air 8 inch). No boxes in the trunk for me.

I will also be working on an adapter for the Tech and Non-tech TSX so that you can unplug the factory amp and pick up the HU line outs. I did the same for the first gen I just need to make the connector(s).

So i just wire the LOC to the stock sub? LOC's have two positives and two negatives would i wire both to the stock sub? Should i be worried about the watts of the LOC?

You only need to use one side of your LOC, check to see if you amp already has speaker level inputs, if so, use them instead of the LOC. The wattage is not important with the factory system.

I have a friend who owns a car stereo shop, and the bf was talking to him about putting a better 8 in there. Friend was concerned about rattling, had put one in the same spot on a TL and had problems with it. I'm just breaking down and putting a 10 in the trunk (JL audio 10w1, already had), and leaving the 8 where it is. Will be better than just the 8, and won't take up too much room. I don't need too much, that sub should be just fine.
