iPhone no longer recognized as iPod

After one of the latest IOS updates, my car no longer treats iphones as ipods - no song titles, cannot use steering wheel controls or radio buttons to skip songs. Called the dealer and they don't have any fix for this. Just opened a ticket on Acura site for this issue. I wonder what they'll say. I'm not too optimistic though.
What you get for paying extra for Tech package is you stock with it. I wonder when acura/honda realizes that whether they want it or not, they are in software business with all its gadgets - navigation, mobile phone control, etc. And when one is in software business, updates are a must. Bluetooth firmware updates too can significantly improve connection.
I'll try to stay strong and avoid temptations to pay for any extra OEM electronics when buying my next car. I'll make ability to change the stock stereo as one the criteria when selecting what to buy. Unfortunately, more and more manufacturers make stereo swap hard or impossible.

Yes, some times a new cable will work..or just try another one you have in the house. One of the issues is that the tech in these older models is out of date and can no longer support new IOS. Apple doesn't care about how it hooks up to your car remember. Sooner or later, I'm figuring my phone will no longer work in my 2010 TSX.
