Incomming calls with Tech Package

When I get an incoming call, it would never be matched to the phonebook downloaded to the car so only the number is displayed, not the name. My infiniti was displaying a name, so is my wife's Nissan. Have Acura dropped the ball on this essential feature too? Or is it somehow related to a phone make and model?

Just to expand on my previous answer - you asked a question that required a yes/no answer and that's what you got.

The HFL from Acura is quite poorly executed. The phonebook downloads to the car instead of being stored on the phone, it doesn't show you who an incoming call is if you're on the phone (just a couple of beeps)and with most phones you can't actually take that incoming call unless the first caller hangs up, you need to transfer a call manually when dialed from the phone and the interface stinks.

I have yet to find a phone or cell company where Acura Link works.

And yes, many of the features are phone specific but there doesn't seem to be any one phone where all the features work as intended - some work with iPhone, others with Androids or with BB.

The HFL hasn't changed much since it first appeared on the RL in 2005 - but hey - phone technology hasn't changed much either

But my car displays the incoming callers name if it is one of my speed dials - probably don't need the name there because I probably know who belongs to that frequently dialed number.

Oh, and why can't call history tell you which of the numbers of a phone book entry you've called. Sometimes I call my wife on her cell, sometimes at work, but the history just displays "wife"

Another "oh" - why can't the system display signal strength before you try to place a call? Every other BT enabled car can do that. Once I'm on the call the signal strength is less important.

There was two questions

If calling using car controls was as easy as it was on my infinity, I'd say I like the "transfer" feature. I almost never used a phone to deal on the Infinity/Nissan.

Mine doesn't display names even if the number is on the speed dial. What phone model do you have?

Another annoyance is if you copied number from speed phone book to speed dial you can rename it. So if Joe Shmoe has cell phone, home and work, there'd be 3 identically labeled speed dial entries.

Oh, and get this... That's really strange. The manual says don't use a word "Home" in your speed dial. So, if you're trying to call home, you should really say "Call what???"

I'm using a Blackberry. My iPhone didn't display names.
