I-006: Newer iPod USB problem

I have a 2010 TSX. An older iPod works well showing folders and tracks. But the same is not true for a new iPod Touch. My new iPod works only after hitting play then plugging it in. Music plays but track names do not display. Skip to next track etc does not work.

My guess is that my TSX needs a firmware upgrade. Dealer was unaware of problem let alone how to fix it. Has anyone else noticed this?

I will update thread with any info I find.

Which firmware is currently on your iPod? I have just recently updated mine to version 4.0 and now my TSX does not recognize it anymore. I am going to have to roll it back somehow. This might be the problem.

I have a question as well and hopefully I can just sneak it into this thread... Does anyone have the new 160GB iPod Classic and does it work fine with the 2010 Tech system? Thanks.

Bottom line: (Non)-problem solved. It was the nut behind the wheel.

I called Acura USA. The CSR looked but found nothing. He suggested that I call from within the car and he would walk me through trying to get it to work. I decide to try it myself so as not to be a complete idiot on the phone.

It’s my wife’s car (I got the Corolla) and my Granddaughter’s iPod Touch. The Granddaughter insisted on demonstrating the problem to me. Older iPod worked. Plug in the new iPod Touch and (you saw it coming) it worked.

Related Issue:

I have a 2009 TSX and an iPod Touch. I've used the iPod in my car without any problems for months, until now. When I now connect the iPod i get "UNSUPPORTED" displayed on the HUD. I'm guessing this is because I recently updated my iPod software to 4.0. I'm not sure how, but I think if I rollback to version 3.0 it will resolve my issue. Can anyone confirm this?

I had the same problem. A complete reboot of the iPod made it recognizable again.

I have the iPhone 3GS and i get the unsupported device all the time. All I have to do is do a reboot of the device with it plugged in and it works. It's annoying but at least it works. Or, you can bluetooth stream without a problem but that tends to drain the battery rather quickly.
