Here's a mount I cobbled together for my Droid 2. I used a Pro-Clip dash mount (link) and a VSM 4 Hole AMPS Adapter Mount for Garmin Nuvi by Arkon(link). The Nuvi uses a 17mm ball mount, and so does the Verizon Droid car mount cradle, so the adapter gave me the ball that the Droid cradle will sit on.

So, the Proclip provides a very stable platform, the ball adaptor goes on top of that, and the Verizon Droid car cradle sits on top of that. Best of all, no drilling or permanent modification to the car.

Then I ran a 2 ft micro-USB 5 wire extension cable from my car charger in the console box, along the passenger seat. The 5 wire cable has a right angle connector, so it will hide behind the car cradle better. I say "5 wire" because not all USB extension cables have 5 wires - without all 5 wires they will supposedly not provide full charging power and are useful only for data transfer, not charging a GPS or smartphone. I used a cheap wire in my last car mount setup and it would not keep the phone charged if I was using GPS.

looks nice. i will probably soon be looking to make one for my Sensation. This looks like itll give me some good ideas.
