Can navigation be upgraded?

I have a 2009 TSX with navigation. I have purchased new DVDs when they've come out but always feel that they are not really up to date. The past few days I have had a loaner car from my dealer while they tried to repair a bubble that appeared in my dashboard. This car was a 2011 TSX and the navigation was great. I commented to one of the service agents and I was told they no longer have DVDs in the cars. They have hard drives. Is there any way a car can be updated with the navigation with hard drive? That would be so great.

Why? The maps are the same.

There are other advantages to HD devices but map accuracy isn't one of them.

I think the OP might be referring to the increased resolution of the Navi screen starting with the '11 MY. Unfortunately, I doubt that there is a cost effective way to upgrade.

Edit: just want to point out that I've fielded tech. support calls where people thought the "desktop" was their actual, literal desktop.

I don't believe the maps are the same. I travel over some of the same roadways regularly and the GPS in the 2011 TSX had roads on there that my GPS has never had and these named roadways have been in existence for many, many years. I never understand why they are not on the discs that I've had. If it were possible to upgrade to a hard drive for my GPS, I would seriously consider it.

The only way to get the HDD maps is to swap the entire system - a very pricey undertaking. You'd be better off financially trading in your car on a 2011 or a 2012.

I didn't know about navtool. I just looked it up and it looks like a good possibility. I only quickly scanned the info. I see that you can update it online but do the maps update? I see it has a back up camera. Does that replace the back up camera I already have? I guess I don't know enough about it to make any decision at this point.

How is navtool going to solve the OP's issue? He isn't happy with the quality of the nav guidance. What navtool lets you do is add additional inputs.
