Amp Remote Wire

Hi Guys, I'm upgrating my sub and amp on my base 11 TSX and before taking anything apart I'll like to know if I should connect the amp remote wire directly to the oem amp or I should wire it to the fuse box. Basically, I'll like to know if the oem remote it's controlled by the radio like aftermarket radios do, or it's the same as the fuse box?

Thank you!!!!!

The factory amp is controlled by a combination of a switched 12v wire and a mute wire. If you are tapping the factory sub at speaker level then you can use the sw12. If you are trying to go before the amp then you need both the mute and switched signals or your sub will pop.

So, if I take the signal at the skeaker level (without by passing the amp) and connect the remote wire to the fuse box I should not have any pops issues do to the OEM mute mode? Or should I get a PAC-TR7 just to be safe? Thank you for your help!

i used a 12v switch feed from the xm box which is located behind the rear passenger seat. The xm box turns on when the radio is on and its a short run from there to the trunk. I have my amp being fed by the stock sub wire. I piggybacked a plug from the stock sub to my amp which has high level inputs. I did this becuase i wanted to be able to control my aftermarket sub with the sub adjustments on the stock radio. Its been running since 2009 now and works flawlessly.

The installers at Future shop hooked up my remote to fuse #18 (7.5A) Accessory driver's side fuse box. (According to other Zine Members this is one of the fuses which feed power to the Bluetooth and HFL.) Since I did not use the bluetooth HFL too often I did not notice that my HFL had stopped working until weeks after the sub box installation. As much as the HFL dropped connection and ocassionally hung up it would still be nice to get it back in working order. I still have not pulled this fuse to try to reset the HFL. Sorry all I know I was supposed post my results for this some time back but have not had a chance to get up under the dash ... been too hot this summer ... I'm feeling quite lazy. :-)
